A lot of potential lost by mismanagement

Over a year ago, I had the chance to talk to a well-regarded consultant who was brought to examine the company's situation and offer expert advice. He revealed to me back then, the growth of the company was unsustainable.
Instead of putting the breaks on hiring, even with a recession in sight that already cost us a few clients, ego-driven management decided to ignore the many voices inside and outside the company sounding the alarm.
As a consequence, all the secondary locations had to be closed, many valued colleagues were laid off. Fresh hirings didn't even get a chance to start when they were let go. All to afford the vanity project that was acquiring an extra floor during a time when everyone was working from home.
These decisions taint what, on a daily basis, was a pretty cool job.
