OK for the start of your career
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Ranged from optimistic and very motivated, usually at the start of new projects, to tense and unsafe during times when there were a lot of job cuts. The terrace and Friday beer are nice if you can go.
Kommunikation
The amount of meetings, also with more or less the whole company, was good. Continued through the pandemic also when working from home. I had the impression that I received the information I needed.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
Most of the colleagues try to help you if they can. In my team we didn't get along on a personal level, due to age differences or very different personalities.
Work-Life-Balance
Miserable because there used to be no time tracking tool. To some influential people in the company the idea of work-life-balance is a joke or a sign that you as an employee have the wrong priorities.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Personally I had managers that were rather inexperienced. They put a lot of pressure on the team or were indifferent to the needs of their team members.
Interessante Aufgaben
If you are a fast learner, you will profit a lot from working at Optotune. The company is still quite small and many things are done in-house, so if you want to kickstart your career and understand the industry you can benefit a lot.
Gleichberechtigung
There weren't a lot of female engineers. Women mostly worked in Production or office jobs such as HR or Finance. Working part-time was possible in most positions, also for new fathers.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
There were very few older colleagues. It was not the kind of work environment that many experienced workers would enjoy because of the atmosphere and the wages.
Arbeitsbedingungen
Nothing special but OK. In some offices it could get very hot which made it hard to stay focused.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
Garbage, PET and other waste was collected but the environmental impact was not a main focus of the company.
Gehalt/Sozialleistungen
OK for the start. But if you talk to colleagues who work in similar positions in other companies or do some research you will find out that it is quite low, especially for Zurich.

The company presents itself as a modern technological leader and innovator, even disruptive to the industry. The ratings here might tell otherwise, though some are a bit biased. Nevertheless, you should stay realistic, it might not always be as cool as they have told you during the interview.

Very good opportunity to start your career but not enough money or time to develop employees.
