Principal System Applications Engineer
As a Principal System Applications Engineer in our IoT Solutions team, you will lead the design and delivery of system-level projects that showcase how Infineon silicon and software can enable differentiated features in Edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Projects can include proof-of-concept demonstrations, reference designs, and application specific evaluation /development platforms. You will be part of Infineon’s Consumer, Computing, & Communication (C3) Segment, focused on Edge AI and IoT applications.
Your Role
Key responsibilities in your new role:
- Translate marketing requirements into technical requirements and specifications
- Create hardware and software architectures for system projects
- Define technical architecture strategy and direction for IoT system projects, serving as the team's technical authority
- Mentor and guide junior and senior engineers through technical reviews and design feedback
- Work with project managers to develop engineering project plans
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to create system-level solutions that can include Edge AI, wireless connectivity, human machine interfaces (HMI), motor control, and sensor fusion
- Publish software via GitHub and create technical documentation
- Support go-to-market activities for solutions including conducting technical training, attending trade shows to demo solutions, and supporting lead customers.
Your Profile
Qualifications and skills to help you succeed:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electronics and Communication Engineering (required); advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years' experience with embedded systems, IoT, and Edge AI
- Experience with C, C++.
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as Free RTOS or Zephyr.
- Experience with Embedded software or microcontroller platforms such as Infineon, XMC, PSoC, OPTIGA, Arduino, STM32, iMX RT or Raspberry Pi.
- Experience with hardware design and debug skills including PCB schematic review, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and hands-on board bring-up.
- Experience with Python scripting and data analysis, TensorFlow or PyTorch frameworks.
- Experience with model optimization or quantization for embedded AI (TinyML, Tensorflow Lite, etc.)
- Experience with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and modern IoT protocols (Matter, BLE Mesh, Thread) including experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure IoT Hub, or Google Cloud IoT.
- Experience with embedded security fundamentals including secure boot, TLS/DTLS, and familiarity with Infineon OPTIGA Trust security solutions.
- Strong communication skills.
- Collaborates effectively across different functional groups.
- Experience defining or contributing to technical product roadmaps in collaboration with product marketing
- Experience with Infineon Modus Toolbox SDK and AIROC Wi-Fi/Bluetooth portfolio
- Publications, patents, or conference presentations in the embedded AI or IoT domain.
