Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Gehalt, interessante Aufgaben, Soziale Leistungen, flexible Arbeitszeiten

When I started working there in September 2020 the work atmosphere at the Town Town was exciting because we were part of something bigger than us, we were working for the city of Vienna and helping fight the epidemics. Because the teams were small and new we were all excited to learn how to work together, would help each other a lot to work on the project efficiently and sometimes you would see the leaders in the uniforms from the rescue teams. At first the teams were very friendly, open and very closely-knit group and it changed over the time because we split into smaller teams based on our specialties, a lot of new coworkers came in and and many also got promoted into team leader roles. We got a lot of not that qualified and competent workers who brought drama and the cliques started to form based on nationalities and age.

Kommunikation

Because the company grew up very fast over the time and there were so many tasks to do, the assignments and the way to do them changed from day to day. A lot of important information got lost because it used to be communicated orally from the team-leaders directly until I insisted there is some kind of written newsletter with the changes. If you missed the work for a several days you were already out of the loop. A lot of critical information got passed through the gossip, especially in the winter 2021 where we knew many people were not going to have their contracts extended. If you did not get a phone call by a certain date, it means you were out. My impression was that the problems stemmed from the HR department itself because I got two different information each time. One time that I could work at the Teststrasse/Impfstrasse only to come to the interview to be told I could leave the meeting because my contract was not extended at the ASB tram. The one time I was told the status of my extension was not decided yet only to be called back 5 minutes later to be told I could no longer be extended.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

It worked pretty well, since we were all mostly new and confronted with new tasks, we helped each other a lot and always had someone to answer out questions when in dilemma. We would also take smoke breaks together, walk around the city center when we had time and eat together. Older and younger coworkers worked well together as well as different nationalities.

Work-Life-Balance

I was very physically and emotionally consuming and stressful. There were two shifts, one from 06:00 in the morning and the other one from 14:30 until 23:00. At first we got most of the weekends off when I started working and then it gradually got bad, especially after Christmas, when you would work 5 days, get only one day off only to be scheduled 6 more days and get 3 days off once in a month. You could change your shifts with colleges if the supervisor approved or request working mornings/afternoons only.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Mostly very professional, helpful and human and young. I am more upset about the main organisation who made decisions who stays and leaves and not with the immediate leadership at the ASB/MA15

Interessante Aufgaben

If you are a person who likes systematic work, likes to talk to people and uses internet to research locations, companies ane people it is a good fit. The work is good for independent people who are quick learners and pro-active and not for people who need to have their hand held. You learn a lot about Vienna health system, special education and covid regations.

Gleichberechtigung

Very interesting people from a walks of life, especially people with immigration background, a lot of people from Ex-Yugoslavia, Turkey and Eastern countries. If you are easy to get along with, competent and a good team-player there is not problem.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

There were a couple of them before the pension and they seemed to integrate well. At first they seemed a bit overwhelmed with the technology and stressed but they got a hang of it all very quickly. The seemed to bring some stability and life experience with them and they had a calming effect as well

Arbeitsbedingungen

Not bad at all, office job with speakers and a lot of flexibility to choose your own tasks and how to do your job.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

I like the idea of what the company seems to stand for, everything related to health care and social services.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

I got about 2,000 Euros netto a month because I worked a lot after 22:00, holidays and Sundays and they also took into account my college experience.

Image

Still good I would say.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Some people got promoted to work on other projects within Samariter Bund/the city of Vienna. They were very professional and pleasant to be with.
