Unfortunately the company has gone too far down the path with the appointments its made and the decisions that's been taken, I can't see anyway back now.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Never before have I seen a greater disconnect between Management and Staff. The Staff are utterly frustrated and unhappy. We have now a largely new management team that has no idea about the business that we’re in nor about the technology that we offer. They also seemly have no idea about the concept of “accountability”. This is compounded by the fact we have a parent company in Japan that have absolutely no idea about what goes on in Zürich or how bad the situation here is.

The company is failing. The projects that are in execution are nose-diving, and the projects in the pipeline can only lose money. As with any failing company, the best employees are either leaving or have already left. Meanwhile our management are on an unbelievable recruitment drive, filling the company up with people in senior positions, in jobs that haven’t been advertised, whom have no direct reports, and who come from Alstom/GE.

How long can this go on for? It's anyone's guess. The company is losing money hand over foot, and will do so for many years to come - there's certainly no sign of a turnaround. If Japan stop the funding then it could be over tomorrow.

Kommunikation

Embarrassing. We get told that the company is fast turning around yet all the evidence doesn't support these statements. Either our management have lost all grasp of reality or they're lying to us. Last year we were told to "fix" our projects, this year we're told to "enhance" them. They were never ever fixed in the first place.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Middle management is a bit of a mixed bag. Unfortunately many have been promoted in the last few years not on ability and are totally out of their depth as department bosses. Some however are very good.

Sadly some of the very respected managers have either been demoted or made to feel so uncomfortable that they quit (the trick seems to be to bring in someone external (i.e. Alstom/GE) and place them directly above the manager in question and wait for them to resign).
