An Opportunity Missed
There was much hope and some optimism when the previous CEO was replaced, though this has ended now. Replacing the former CEO from with ex Alstom/GE was always going to be met with some resistance but it’s clear now this was a mistake.
It seems to older employees that the new management is running a social plan for their former colleagues from Alstom/GE. Employing many expensive people in positions that are not required for jobs which are not advertised and even creating new job titles which aren’t necessary in order to fit them in, then not communicating why these people are even there. It gets more embarrassing when in meetings these new employees then talk with each other about “how did we do this in Alstom” unaware and with no sensitivity for older HZI employees. Or when one of the new ex-Alstom employees tries to introduce a new process or document which still has an ex-Alstom project name or logo on it.
This is obviously means the skepticism for the new management is now felt across the company.
The company is not in good shape at the moment and short to medium term it’s clear we will have to rely on the patience of the parent company to keep going.
This is very dependent on who is boss. Some is very good, others don’t deserve to be in the position, but this is the same at any company. One company wide problem though is that superiors don’t fight for their departments and too willing to accept any diktats given to them by the management team.
This is very good. For an international company the employees can work together well with little cultural problems. Some departments can be more closed off than others but generally it’s good.
This is a major positive with HZI, there is always plenty of interesting work, be it technical, sales, project related or service. It’s varied and HZI offers more than many other companies.
This improved under the new management with monthly packages. Only problem is that much of the information contained lies between wishful thinking and delusion.
For an Engineering company this is very good.
Umgang mit älteren Kollegen
This is good.
Karriere / Weiterbildung
HZI was always a flat company meaning there were always few possibilities to progress. The new organization created by the new CEO has made more of a hierarchy but many of the positions went external ex-Alstom employees. Good performance is not so well recognized or rewarded.
Gehalt / Sozialleistungen
This can be good depending on how well you negotiate when joining. There's rarely any increases once youstart work at HZI.
As to be expected, no reason to complain.
This is excellent at HZI, the company can be very flexible but sometimes depends on who the boss is.
Despite the problems, HZI has a good image and rightly so.
- Listen to employees more, don't think Alstom way is best
