Internationales Team
Eher unteres internes Gehaltsniveau; Gehaltsunterschiede teils schwer nachvollziehbar (z.
- Teilweise höhere Gehälter trotz fehlender Erfahrung, was nicht immer nachvollziehbar erscheint.

B. IT, HR-Services).
Keep developing a cross functional collaboration to maintain the good team spirit.
Over the past year or so the company started to get rid of employees (long time ones mostly) with shocking regularity. People are dismissed at a moment's notice on the smallest of charges against them. This practice is really unworthy of a Swiss company that prides itself on being the best in the industry. I would expect that from an American company where it is known practice to fire people on the spot. What I find jaw-droppingly stupid with this is that Holcim is willing to lose so much know-how that has been acquired over 10, 15, 20 or more years and cannot be replaced by new people. Instead of using this know-how to forge ahead and use these experiences to the fullest advantage of the company and the new direction it is taking, people's accounts get closed the second they are dismissed, therefore losing the company an incredible amount of accumulated knowledge.
Trust your employees and let them do their job
Promote people to managing positions with people skills who can be inspring leaders instead of being micro managers
It used to be fun to work for Holcim but the office climate is now quite often very tense and guarded due to the management's obvious distrust in their employees
Might still be good when looking at it from the outside but a company is only as good as its employees and all the talk of "our people are our best assets" does not hide the fact that there is a lot of frustration among the employees
There is a lot of talk about the importance of work-life-balance but in reality it is not true, or only for those employees who have he management's trust. There seem to be different rules for different people within the various offices
See above topic on "Arbeitsatmosphäre"
Lousy!!
There are a lot of uninspiring, not to say mean managers at Holcim. Unfortunately the people who get promoted to managing positions (at every level) are not always the best qualified to lead people. They might be good in their areas of experience but are mostly unfit to lead people. A good manager inspires his/her team to do their best work for the company. Managers these days tend to loose themselves in micromanaging their positions, i.e. instead of letting people get on with their work they try to control every little aspect of the jobs that need to be done and so create an area of mistrust and demotivation.
Again, Holcim used to be a great company to work for but with all the changes in employees (out with the old, in with the new) it has become a company I would not recommend to work for
Could be a lot better
The work is challenging and great if one can go ahead and simply do it
If one can accommodate in the often encrusted and hierarchical structures, working environment little problematic. Self-centered and egoistic behavior of the colleagues rather rewarded than thwarted by management.
Older, longterm personnel with corresponding higher salary levels more prone to be laid off in the restructuring rounds (higher cost saving per capita achievable??).
Strongly depend on superior's managment style. Even mobbing of direct superiors not infrequently observed and as such often tolerated by upper management.
Swiss nationals having always a home field advantage compared to foreign employees regarding job assignments and carreer development
Collaboration with countries and among colleagues. Remuneration and other benefits. Raising importance of sustainability matters
French way of working and management style; talking rather than focus and delivery. Intransparent performance management, e.g. career plan, promotions
Open and honest communication towards staff. Transparent career development and support. More
5 years after the merger, heavy influence of French culture in many functions; like it or not
Positive in the industry
High pressure in functions like finance, very little pressure (management interest) in others
Individual career development not visible/ transparent. HR focusing on recurring activities (e.g. payroll) but not on what really matters
Above market remuneration; sometimes making low performers stay
High pressure from outside and hence significant efforts around tech (and "positive" communication in social media)
Lots of collaborative and nice-to-work-with people
Feedback culture not existing, lack of guidance, sometimes a lot of "hot air" rather than delivery and support
Differs whether based in Zug or Holderbank
In many functions, poor communication from management to lower levels
Depends a lot on the function and management desire to do something
You don't have to believe me or all the 5-star feedbacks below. Just ask the diligent HR colleague to post the last results of the employee survey. Do not worry, it is worse than you could imagine.
Fear is the major motivating factor. Well, after 4-5 unsuccessful restructurings within few years, I can't blame the employees.
Considering the environmental impact and several ethical issues on the part of the top management it is a disaster. Unfortunately, they don't seem to even try to make anything better. Apart of commenting on every bad feedback here and adding some nice ones...
Very much depends on you and how you position yourself. Rules are different in different departments. The official ones no one cares about. In general ok.
Does not exist. Save save save... Improve yourself on your free time & money
Very much depends who you talk to... Some great and knowledgeable colleagues. But considering the overall setup and environment, can't trust many.
One of the least capable and unqualified top management I have ever seen in a listed company. Basically it is the root cause of where the company is and where it is heading.
Have a visit to Holderbank and see it for yourself.
You are more informed by watching the public news.
Compensation is the only thing that is at and/or above the average on the market.
There's gotta be something positive to lure people in.
A lot of potential for interesting and sustainable topics, but as mentioned before the leadership is weak and only cost and fear driven.
So verdient kununu Geld.
