What I like about the employer

What I like about the employer

I can strongly recommend the company, especially for working students who can imagine a career in HR or consulting later on. The founder integrates you directly as a fully-fledged member and gives you important tasks where you can feel the added value for the customer and the company. A lively feedback culture within your own team also gives you the opportunity to work on your own weaknesses and make even better use of your strengths. Thank you for the time together!

Thank you so much for this amazing review!
I am happy to hear that you enjoyed working with us. We give our best to not only deliver great value to our clients but also build a growth-oriented and trustful team culture so such feedback means a lot to me.

A lot of growth and development opportunities, and fantastic management that genuinely cares about its employees

What I like about the employer

Excellent management. Communications within the team are structured extremely effectively. Team meetings, team days, and work off-sites are all facilitated to ensure that employees truly get to know each other, despite the remote setup. Management tailors their leadership style to each employee based on their personality. More importantly, they are always open to feedback on improving the mutual collaboration and communication.

As a working student, expect many opportunities for learning. You'll gain significant knowledge about project management, HR, digital tools, and also marketing and knowledge management.

The company's leadership values open and transparent communication, and genuinely cares about your well-being. During a challenging time in my personal life, they not only allowed but also encouraged me to take time off. If I ever felt unwell, they would suggest I reduce my working hours and prioritise my health. This is rather unusual in the sector, and I believe that their dedication to employees' wellbeing is what makes the company so successful. Hence, Julia Reis Consulting is ideal for those seeking more than just a job – it's a "working family" with a profound sense of unity.

What I dislike about the employer

As the company's values indicate, there's a commitment to delivering high-quality contributions to its clients and the broader network. Thus, employees are expected to be very detail-oriented and adhere strictly to content and format guidelines. Critical feedback is often given when expectations aren't met. So, I'd recommend considering a position here only if you align with these values and are open to occasionally receiving negative feedback on your work.

Career/Professional development

German speaking employees will find it easier to pursue a career after their studies within the company.

Environmental and social responsibility

My manager was highly committed to environmental and social sustainability, and this is reflected in a lot of their working practices and team events.

Interesting tasks

As a lot of the clients are German speakers, non-German speakers will miss out on a variety of tasks and client project opportunities, which are also critical learning opportunities.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this detailed review!
I am very happy to hear about your feedback on what it's like to work with us.

I just wanted to add some additional comments on two aspects:
- while I agree that it's part of my leadership style to genuinely care about each team member and their development (following the "radical candour" approach in its real sense), I would not describe us as a "working family" but rather as a real team bonded by trust and respect. See this (https://ideas.ted.com/why-a-company-is-not-a-family-and-how-companies-can-bond-with-their-employees-instead/) for some of the reasons of my thinking.
- Regarding the "negative feedback" part, I just wanted to clarify that it is true that I give a lot of feedback (both positive and "negative") but that the "negative" one always aims to be constructive. Not criticizing team members for "bad work" but pointing out ways to improve next team as I truly believe that in this way we can get a bit better every day as a team.

The best company I´ve worked for so far

What I like about the employer

The combination of very authentic culture, strong values, strive for excellence and deep care for the employees.

Working atmosphere

Really empowering working atmosphere: great team and company culture, best practices if it comes to leadership, interesting clients and projects.

Work-Life Balance

The company puts a great value on the well-being of the employees. As an example, when I had too many overtime hours, my manager asked me to take holidays. We also have flexible working hours.

Environmental and social responsibility

The level of awareness about social and environmental issues is very high. Last year we donated a part of the yearly profit to charities and also did some pro bono work.

Career/Professional development

Learning & development play a very important role. For example, I can invest an hour a week just for learning purposes.

Collegiality

There is a deep understanding and trust between team members based on shared values and work ethics.

Leadership behavior

The "best of class" leadership practices: clear expectations, transparency, open communication, frequent feedback, encouragement & support.

Working conditions

Everything is so well- structured and organized, that I can simply concentrate on my tasks. We use tools & software that make the (remote) work easy & efficient.

Communication

Very open and honest. No matter how busy it is, I am always given enough time and attention to share what´s important to me. We also have the right "set-up" and tools to ensure sufficient and efficient communication (weekly 1:1 & team meetings, ongoing exchange via slack, etc.).

Salary/Social benefits

Very good and fair. Transparent communication about the salary structure, raises, and bonuses.

Interesting tasks

Since we work on a wide range of projects with a variety of clients, it never gets boring and I can constantly learn something new.
