While there's certainly potential within the company, there are notable aspects of the recruitment process that could be refined. Firstly, communication with the hiring manager left much to be desired. Despite agreeing on scheduled discussions, there were unexplained delays and instances of being left in the dark. Clear and transparent communication is crucial for fostering a positive candidate experience, and this aspect fell short. Additionally, the final stage of the interview process, the Tryout, proved to be quite demanding. While I understand the importance of soliciting input from multiple stakeholders, the execution felt excessive and draining. The series of 30-minute calls, though purportedly not assessments, ended up feeling like just that. It's essential for companies to value candidates' time and effort, respecting their ability to handle ambiguity without subjecting them to prolonged evaluation processes. Furthermore, the evaluation criteria used post-presentation raise some concerns. Rejecting candidates after the final interview, based on subjective notions of "cultural fit" or personality traits, especially after they've showcased exceptional technical skills, is troubling. Assessing cultural fit should ideally be integrated earlier in the process to avoid leaving candidates feeling unfairly judged. Lastly, using terms like "emotionless" or "flat" to justify rejections may inadvertently invite discrimination claims and even lawsuits. Hiring decisions should be grounded in objective criteria relevant to the role rather than subjective interpretations of personality traits. In summary, while there are undoubtedly strengths within Vinted's hiring process, there are clear areas in need of refinement. Timely and transparent communication, a more balanced evaluation approach, and fair assessment criteria are essential components that can significantly enhance the candidate experience and ensure alignment with the company's values of fairness and professionalism.
