I interviewed for the Product Designer role at Koppla and the experience was disappointing. The first call ended about 10 minutes earlier than scheduled, and the person interviewing me came across as distant and disengaged from the start. It felt as though an opinion had already been made about me before the conversation even began, which made it nearly impossible to properly discuss my skills or experience.
This role has been reposted multiple times over the past two months, which suggests the company is struggling to hire for it. That’s why the lack of openness and professionalism during the interview was even more concerning.
The rejection did not surprise me after the way the interview went, but the experience left me with a poor impression of the company. We all know how stressful hiring can be and the amount of work recruiters manage, but there is a thin line between being stressed and being disrespectful. I share this to help other candidates navigate similar outcomes: don’t let the attitude of the person interviewing you make you doubt your own value.
**Update:
I appreciate the company’s response below, but it unfortunately avoids addressing the substance of my feedback. My review was not about the selection process or role fit, it was about the attitude of the interviewer during the interview. The experience I described was not a misunderstanding of the process, but a reflection of how the interviewer communicated and behaved.
The reply focuses on defending procedure instead of acknowledging that the interaction itself felt dismissive and disengaged. That is exactly the problem, candidates are not asking for perfection, just basic respect and genuine dialogue. A professional hiring process requires both structure and humanity, and this response only reinforces the lack of the latter.
