- Define the scope of the role, its priority and the salary bandwidth before inviting candidates to an interview or even later stages
- Do not waste candidates time with a case study if you're not actually planning to fill the position (the position is still open in multiple European countries a month after case study presentation round) – however there is a possiblity that this is deliberate to get free advice and input from experts
- When rejecting a candidate who presented their case study to you, at least have the decency to give them feedback – not only have I gotten a generic rejection email, it was also signed by a person who hasn't been working for the company for more than half a year – highly unprofessional!
I recently participated in an interview process at Tomorrow University and unfortunately, my experience was far from positive.
The main issues I encountered were:
Feedback Process: After the interview, there was no follow-up or constructive feedback provided, leaving me uncertain about the outcome and next steps.
Unprofessional Behavior: During the interview, some of the interviewers seemed distracted and unprepared, which made me feel like my time and effort were not valued.
I believe companies should strive to provide a professional and respectful experience for candidates, as it reflects their organizational values. I hope my feedback encourages to review and improve their interview process to ensure a more positive experience for future candidates.
I was invited for an initial screen with the HR for the senior PM role. The conversation was very pleasant and she shared information about the role including the role budget.
Post which I got entangled into a very lengthy process, this included
- Founder call
- Case Study - very long and unrelated
- Case Study Presentation
- Meet the team
- Meet another founder
- Meet HR
- Final call with the CEO
The entire process was very very draining.
In my final call with the CEO, I was offered the job, I requested a higher salary (which was squarely between the amount told by HR) and he mentioned he will think about the final amount and get back.
2 days later they emailed and said they rescind the offer. It made absolutely no sense, they blamed on my demand (it was only 5k higher). I emailed back requesting a call and mentioning I am happy with their pay, but no response.
Later they emailed they closed the role, with no further explanation.
It was easily one of the most unpleasant recruiting experience, they were facetious and had no respect for a candidate's time. Tried to underball and renege on their own words.
I later found a job above my ask and now I believe I dodged a bullet. If you are reading this, please save yourself from the process, FYI the entire product team (3 people including head of product) had quit the company, imagine what they do to their employees.
Do not contact a candidates’ reference before a making an offer. It’s so unprofessional especially if you proceed to cancel calls with references. This is not a serious company and from the looks of it, there is a high turn over and it’s clear why if this is how they treat people.
The whole process took more than 2 months. After the final interview I had to wait 3 weeks for a decision. I wouldn’t recommend applying with them as everything seemed very unprofessional and badly prepared
