Working towards a meaningful mission makes for an environment where everyone is passionate and thoughtful in their approach to their work.
Working at Udacity is not for everyone. It's fast moving, there is ambiguity, and sometimes it's chaotic. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but something to be aware of for anyone considering joining. That said, if you thrive in this environment then it's a great place to work.
Everyone is extremely motivated, passionate and driven towards achieving Udacity's mission. The culture is unique and taken very seriously when hiring new members of the team.
Udacity is a fast-growing startup and with this comes certain pressures to hit growth targets and moving fast to launch new products. With this in mind, and the fact that the company is headquartered in California (-9 hour time difference from PT to CET), there will naturally periods where long hours are required but the benefits of being onboard a rapidly changing and exciting company easily outweigh this in my opinion.
Due to Udacity's growth, there is the opportunity to take on more responsibility if you wish. There are not clear development paths laid out due to the growth of the company meaning development needs to be an ongoing pursuit and owned by the employee in most cases.
The local team is very close and everyone has a good working relationship leading to a productive and fun environment. Each team member is also required to build strong relationships with counterparts and peers at HQ and other International offices.
Leadership works hard to communicate a clear vision and create the right environment and communication structures for a productive company. They are very open and transparent in their communication and provide many formats for feedback and open discussion.
The conditions of the local office are constantly improving and are now at a point where the team can be highly productive in a great environment.
Udacity is constantly changing and therefore the roles and responsibilities are also always in flux. This creates an environment where employees are encouraged to take on meaningful, impactful work and there is never a quiet or dull period.
2) Großteils entry-level Team-Mitglieder in Berlin.
