Verbesserungsvorschläge

Identify and Nurture Talent Proactively
Move beyond relying solely on managerial assessments to recognize talent. Implement structured programs that actively develop employees' skills, foster continuous learning, and provide accessible learning platforms—don’t just wait for employees to seek them out. And also provide resources like time and infrastructure to get something from these developments.

Prioritize Sustainable Tech Development
Focus on strengthening the software’s tech stack and invest time in building meaningful, high-impact features—not just quick fixes. Aim for steady, long-term progress over short-term wins. Also admit mistakes that impact other teams.

Create a Workspace That Inspires Productivity
Modernize the office with bright, open spaces designed for collaboration and focus. Employees shouldn’t dread coming to work because of cramped, poorly ventilated rooms where noise-canceling headphones are a necessity rather than a convenience.

Adopt Forward-Thinking Work Practices
Embrace modern workforce structures and policies. Benefits should reflect today’s needs, such as:

-Support for career changers (e.g., upskilling programs).

-Safe spaces for open internal communication.

-Product development driven by real value, not just deadlines.

-Management that listens—acting on employee and customer feedback with adaptable processes, not just rigid sprint cycles.

-Drive transparency through structured inter-team exchanges
Implement regular cross-departmental knowledge sharing sessions
Create internal shadowing programs to foster mutual understanding
Develop clear documentation practices accessible across teams
Respect work-life boundaries in collaboration
Designate quiet zones in the office for uninterrupted focus time
Establish 'no meeting' blocks in calendars for deep work
Keep communal areas truly communal - no work talk at coffee stations
The vision should spread through organized channels, not by ambushing colleagues during their personal time

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Praise is scarce, with acknowledgment typically limited to wage negotiations. A supportive team environment hinges on fitting in or adjusting to your colleagues’ expectations—so like everywhere else.

Kommunikation

True transparency—clearly communicating intentions and mid-to-long-term goals—is rare. For example, when leadership mandated a return-to-office policy, they failed to consider the office's limited capacity, leaving employees to navigate poorly relfected attendance expectations. Concerns were only addressed in large, impersonal meetings, making meaningful dialogue impossible.

Issues are rarely solved systematically; instead, the environment encourages individual self-interest over collective problem-solving as a team

Kollegenzusammenhalt

This company has truly talented individuals—people who are pillars of stability, exceptional mentors, or simply outstanding in their roles. But there’s also a tendency toward gossip and favoritism, where some are treated as 'more equal than others.' Sadly, that’s probably not uncommon elsewhere either.

Work-Life-Balance

The company actively discourages overtime work and approves vacation requests without hesitation. However, short-term coverage can occasionally become an issue when too many team members are on leave simultaneously

Vorgesetztenverhalten

I consider myself fortunate to be part of a team with a great team lead. Without this kind of luck, my experience here could easily have been completely different.

Gleichberechtigung

While the company maintains good overall gender balance, leadership roles remain predominantly male-dominated

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

The company appears to value and encourage long-term employee retention. And also hires people in older semesters.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Just bad. The office, the tables, the space, the AC, the chairs, the kitchen, total absent of break rooms - pro is that the office is next to TU - so public transport is great.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

No waste separation, no emphasis on participation in any visible "green" programs

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Understanding negotiation techniques is essential, especially since budget constraints are currently a concern. There’s a significant disparity in funding between teams, so your approach may vary depending on what you’re applying for.

Image

It depends on who you ask. Some in this company have weathered both the 2008 crisis and the pandemic—they’re content. Others, after just two years here, are already questioning their life choice

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Knowledge management, learning/career paths, and transparency in growth opportunities are not this company's strengths.

Dear BOC Employee,

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share your perspectives—and even more so, that you're part of our BOC family.

Your comments touch on many topics. Some initiatives in these areas are already underway. The remark suggesting 'boreout' rather than 'burnout' is somewhat surprising to us. As a company that values proactivity and innovation, we encourage every team member to share and pursue their ideas.

Furthermore, we are proud to have a significantly higher-than-average proportion of female team leads compared to industry standards.

Kindest regards,
HR BOC Group
