The early stages were good. Less than three weeks from application to the final panel, interviews scheduled quickly, communication polite and clear.
The final stage included a take-home case study with a presentation. I confirmed the format in writing beforehand and was told 20–25 minutes of presentation followed by a discussion with the team. On the call it turned out there would be no presentation, and I had to compress the prepared material into a few minutes.
At the panel I was told a decision would come within two weeks. After two weeks I followed up and was told it had been a busy week and an update would arrive by the end of that week. It didn't. Two weeks later I followed up again.
Only after the third email, four weeks after the final stage, did I get a reply: the process had been paused due to internal changes at the company. The reply was polite and apologetic, and I appreciated the honesty — but that information existed earlier and could have been shared at any point in those four weeks without the candidate having to ask three times. I received no feedback on the case study.
What I'd suggest: tell candidates when a process is paused, at the point it's paused. And give feedback on take-home work that candidates spend their own time on.
Take-home case study followed by a presentation to the team.
The core of the interview was a live presentation of a business use case which included scenario, market analysis, opportunities, potential roadmap...
I wasn't really looking to move, but the TA Team reached out with a personalized message that actually referenced my background instead of just a copy-paste template. I figured one call couldn't hurt.
The process from there was surprisingly quick, maybe 3 weeks total. It wasn't a 'selling' vibe; they were pretty blunt about the challenges and where the team currently struggles, which I appreciated more than a polished pitch. It felt like a realistic conversation about where I could actually plug in and help. By the time I signed, the transition was easy.
Zugesicherte Rückrufe nie erhalten, man muss hinterher telefonieren!
