Amazing workplace overall, but one cultural issue needs to be addressed
Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich
HYDROGRID is genuinely an amazing place to work in many respects. Most of the people are fantastic, smart, supportive, highly motivated, and enjoyable to work with. The leadership is also very strong overall, and there is a lot of trust, responsibility, and opportunity to contribute meaningfully.
The company has built something special culturally, and that is exactly why the problems that do exist stand out so much.
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
There is an elephant in the room around the behavior of a small number of people. At times, disagreements can become less about the strength of an argument and more about who is the loudest, most persistent, or most defensive. There can also be quite a lot of passive-aggressive behavior from certain individuals.
This is definitely not representative of most people at HYDROGRID, but it happens often enough to be noticeable. In my experience, quite a lot of people have raised concerns about this internally privately, so it is not exactly unknown. However, there seems to be reluctance to address it directly, partly because people do not want to escalate an already difficult situation or deal with the consequences of challenging people who are deeply embedded in the organization.
That creates an unfortunate dynamic where some behavior that would probably be challenged quickly elsewhere can continue under the radar.
Verbesserungsvorschläge
The company should be more willing to address persistent behavioral problems, regardless of how senior, established, knowledgeable, or important someone may be. High performance should not excuse passive aggression, intimidation, or unhealthy ways of handling disagreement.
Creating clearer standards around constructive disagreement, and actually enforcing them consistently, would make an already excellent workplace considerably better. People should feel that raising an uncomfortable issue will lead to a fair conversation rather than worrying that speaking up will make their own situation worse.
Overall, I would still strongly recommend HYDROGRID as a workplace. The positives substantially outweigh the negatives, and the vast majority of people and leadership are great. This particular issue is frustrating precisely because the rest of the company is so good.
Arbeitsbedingungen
While a lot of work is done in the office the conditions in it are quite good.
