Your responsibilities

We are looking for a Medical Image Grader (m/f/d) / Maternity Leave Cover to support the review of retinal scan data used in clinical research.

In this role, you will work with OCT images and specialized software to assess image quality, review AI-supported results, identify relevant retinal features, and document findings in a structured way.

You will:

• Review retinal OCT scans using our professional image grading platform
• Check AI-generated markings and correct them where needed
• Identify and document relevant retinal structures and biomarkers
• Record results in structured digital reading forms
• Work according to study protocols, quality standards, and internal procedures
• Support different workflow steps such as initial reading, internal review, and consultation with medical professionals
• Take part in structured training programs to build expertise in medical image analysis
• Help improve grading tools and workflows by sharing feedback
• Collaborate with project teams and medical staff to deliver high-quality results on time

Your profile

• You are detail-oriented and motivated with an interest in ophthalmology or medical imaging
• You have the ability to work in a focused, structured and accurate way
• Time management skills and confidence in handling time-sensitive tasks reflect your strengths
• You possess excellent English skills for documentation and collaboration; German skills are a strong plus
• Preferably, you are already familiar with retinal anatomy and pathological features
• Experience in image annotation, medical image review, or AI-supported workflows are a plus
• Ideally, your background as an optician, orthoptist, ophthalmic assistant, clinical support professional, or in a scientific / life science field round up your profile

This position is a maternity leave cover with a fixed-term contract for 1 year. The possibility of an extension can be discussed towards the end of the fixed-term period.
