Senior Scientist of Biologics CMC
The China Innovation Center of Roche (CICoR) is seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Scientist to join the Biologics CMC group. This role focuses on developing cell line and cell culture strategies to support the discovery and development of antibody therapeutics. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Discovery, CMC, Pharma Technical Development, Quality, and external partners, to drive projects from discovery through early clinical development.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute cell line and cell culture process development strategies.
- Manage activities related to mammalian cell culture, harvest processes, clone selection, and process optimization in collaboration with internal teams and CDMO partners.
- Support technology transfer of manufacturing processes and ensure cGMP compliance.
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert on biologics technical development and CMC due diligence teams.
- Drive transient CHO expression and purification to support discovery and preclinical projects.
- Collaborate across functions to ensure alignment and project delivery.
- May serve as a CMC lead to design project strategies, manage risk mitigation, and oversee operational excellence.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biology, Protein Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field with at least 5 years of recent experience, or an MS with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience with bioreactors and leading mammalian cell culture process development.
- Knowledge of cell biology, clone selection, cell line characterization, and stability studies.
- Experience in cell culture media development, statistical data analysis, and technology transfer.
- Understanding of cGMP, biopharmaceutical development lifecycles, and regulatory filings (IND, BLA, MAA).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
