Staff Engineer Photonics Development
We are looking for a Staff Engineer Photonics Development in our Research & Development department “Quantum Processing Units”. You will have the opportunity to merge creativity with your technical expertise by shaping the future of technology, driving groundbreaking projects, and bringing new ideas to life.
Your Role
Taking on the role of a Photonic Development Engineer, you will join a passionate, international team dedicated to making quantum computing a reality. You will be driving the development of cutting-edge photonics chips and advancing their integration into quantum processing units. More concretely, you will:
- Drive technology development of photonics for example enabling the scaling towards very large ion trap chips
- Design, fabricate and characterize photonic circuit chips for a wide range of applications
- Author technical reports and publications in close collaborations with internal and external partners
- Supervise Master and PhD students
Your Profile
- University degree in physics, quantum engineering, electrical engineering (PhD preferred)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in photonics, quantum optics and/or ion trapping
- High level of motivation, striving for photonics and quantum computing to become a reality
- Fluency in English, German skills or the willingness to learn it is a plus
