flexible working hours, homeoffice, interesting and in-time topics
lack of employee appreciation. no support of career development
company events like a christmas party are a basic, minimal reward for employees. don't cut budget there.
good people are constantly leaving
good research oucomes possible if you work in your free time
deadline driven work
support for career development and training is promised but has not been implemented for years
depending on the team
there are hardly any older colleagues
depending on the team
there is a fruit basket
research achievements are not highly rewarded. better aim for a project managment certification than a phd
females mostly in center administration
Many interesting projects but generally not enough time to work on
super spannende forschungsthemen
Flexible working hours at the office
You need all extra hours you can make for no compensation.
A small group of shares a friendly and engaging work atmosphere. Everyone else is stuck with one or another senior who has little understanding of the scientific process, writes self-citing articles, and doesn't have a good grasp of basic methodology (experiments, statistics) These people deride all approaches, force overtime on useless paperwork, and feel the need to make progress impossible. I have seen many excellent researchers who left disappointed because of this. These people are backed by a management with a similar mindset.
From a managerial perspective, it is an endless challenge. As said above, I have seen many excellent researchers leave disappointed. Those who are trying hard to make a good impact in the international scientific community rarely receive recognition. Because, the people in management do not really understand the amount of effort that quality requires.
A lot personal effort is required outside working hours. Particularly for repetitive tasks that don't contribute to the end result.
Only if you are willing to endure a great deal of slander.
Salary structure is unclear. Every team has a different structure for people with same responsibilities. It makes it really difficult to know if remuneration is fair. It makes even more difficult to manage a team fairly.
I have already responded. It is very dependent on the group. In the general case, there is a level of falsehood, and colleagues that would flip their opinion immediately if they feel they not on the favor of a senior.
I cannot comment. It does not seem to be good. There are many extra activities that people with family have trouble keeping up with. It is clearly a place for young and naive, but hardworking good researchers.
A lot of people will rather leave than offer feedback. Surveys are manipulated to show that things are going great.
It depends on the project. Some resources are coveted and difficult to get, like having access to a GPU for machine learning. Normal office areas and infrastructure are otherwise ok.
Goals are not clearly communicated. It requires multiple iterations to understand what is desired.
Everyone is treated equally bad.
Project content is interesting sometimes. It quickly becomes tedious once it is reduced to a chain of bureaucratic tasks. It is difficult to push really interesting ambitious concepts. They will be questioned and reduced to those that the project lead feels confident in taking.
Flexibility, freedom
KC does a lot of things good, but there are for surecalso improvements, e.g. communication within the Areas
Very good, open minded, friendly, honest and direct communication;
Interesting topics, young culture, flexibility
Very good, I havent seen a Company with such flexible working times, it seems that everybody can work whenever they want, and that leads to a very positiv spirit and motivation, a lot of people also work half time
For sure, there can always be more but compared to my former employers Know-Center offers a lot and supports Trainings (e.g. Online Trainings, Teamlead Trainings, Screenings)
Salary could always be better, indepenendly where you are
But overall good salary and compareable with competitors
Support for Trainings (!), free coffee and fruits
Very good in the teams, could be better within the Areas but is ok
Most of the colleagues are between 25-40, so hard to vote but everybody is treated equal overall, indepenendly where they come from (a lot of people are non Austrian citizens) or how old they are
Dependend on the teams there are differences (as in euch company) but overall direct communication, a lot of freedom, you are allowed to make failure and to improve
Most people are in the 5th and 6th floor with great view, Inffeldgasse, TU campus, good connections to city centre, cantine, IT infrastructur is ok; we are growing so running out of space at the moment but will move to a new building at the campus
Communication between different Areas could be improved and Top down as well, but communication within the teams works well and is respectful and direct, sometimes maybe too direct and honest
Men go on paternity leave and work half-time, Managing Director is a woman - do I have to say more?
Definitly! Exciting projects, possibility to learn a lot
Small team and some friends mostly
No idea where we are going, what we should do, how we can grow personally and as a company and if there is a future
accept change, inspire a vision, encourage participation, accept ideas, use the potential and get rid of old patterns and blockades,
Team > Company
Hardly known, those who know are wondering too
Most parts of the company have bad time management, so some work a lot and suffer for mistakes of others or their own mismanagement, but mostly its relaxed
Try to be family or friends of the management, otherwise you can work more and take over responsibility for no thanks or benefits - so why bother?
mostly stressfree work for average pay, no bonus, no raise for better performance or extra tasks
not existing
Within each small team only
It is a boomer company so older people benefit and everything stays the same
Some try, most fail and upper management is hardly managing
Not great, not terrible
Trying so hard, yet its not existing
try to be family or friends of the management for special treatment. Some do as they please and get what they want, while most follow the rules and get nothing
Yes, but no chance to really change or lead something, after some time you reach a visible or invisible wall and either quit or stop being motivated
Work-Life Balance, Vertrauensvorschuss, interessante Aufgaben.
Hier besteht wirklich Verbesserungsbedarf.
most people work alone on projects. some exceptions. keep that in mind
I think some people are really trying to make it good, but some are the opposite.
depending on the position and the manager/supervisor.
i think it can be good if you are doing a PhD. If you can finish it in time.
less compared to industrial companies.
I think it's okay.
young and diverse teams
i think so. i had no problems with it.
don't expect too much
nothing special here. Sometimes they give you an old laptop. But it's generally good.
there is not enough transparency on the part of management
i think so. i had no problems with it.
interesting projects especially in research projects. the rest is less interesting
Approachable and eager to help.
So verdient kununu Geld.
