From what I've heard the product is, from a tech-perspective great. With all of the investment the company has so much potential. Please please however, focus on training and investing in employees from the bottom up. Get them to feel valued because this is what drives the company forward.
Completely trim down middle and VP-level management - treat with suspicion anyone who describes their role within the company as 'strategic' - its a code word for doing nothing but have meetings. You need doers not disinterested 'thinkers' / networkers.
Founders - Don't be fooled by impressive CVs or a sympathetic personal connection - they are not pushing the company forward.
Depressive. It has managed to capture all of the negatives of corporate culture with none of the stability and benefits to make it tolerable. HR do nothing to help engender a supportive atmosphere and so little goes into training and upskilling resulting in most employees feel lost, unmotivated and the result of it is a complete lack of productivity. Management can't see the wood for the trees though and employees hobble along happy to placate egoistic middle management with words.
Great! You can basically do nothing if you massage the right egos
Its okay. BD languishes at the very bottom of my experience. The department is looked down on by the whole of the company which is both obvious and has a psychological impact on the team. On the other hand, the management within my department feel more like an absent parent than supportive leadership who want cohesion and team success.
People are all leaving, and this is why.
Its telling that the best performers leave and the lowest performers stagnate or get worse....
Lets start with HR. I had several quite personal run-ins with this team. Not fit for purpose. I know this sounds scathing but I have very valid reasons. I had a genuine issue with toxic - manipulative behaviour and dishonesty from leadership in my department. I went to HR with valid concerns and questions even of the legality of that behaviour.
Rather than being taken seriously, I was gas-lit and told that perhaps my memory of the incident was inaccurate. In the words of HR 'I miss remember things all the time' - wow. That was my cue to leave.
The reputation of Prewave HR goes far beyond the company itself too and is widely known as sub-par in HR circles in Vienna.
Finally, its bloated. There is simply too much middle management. Also too many VPs and senior management. Too many people with big egos coming into the office each day talking 'strategy' but going around in circles while stringing together dozens of pointless meetings. It wreaks of inexperienced founders hiring for the sake of impressive CVs and not the capacity (or will) to do the job. How many 200k VPs does it take to screw in a light bulb? In Prewave's case - 7.
Where do I start? This product is 10/10 in complexity and they add another feature or change 'strategic direction' every other week. But here is the kicker - they try to adapt the product to the market but leave every customer facing employee in the dark about what is relevant, how to sell and how to position the constantly changing product range.
Herein lies one of the oddest things about this company. Sales and sales operations are not only separated but managed by a different cofounder. They are constantly pulling in different directions and its baked into the structure. A key example of this is how operations have some opaque calculation for targets and commission which is revealed to the sales team at the earliest 1 month into the quarter. Do they feel this is inconsequential.
To add to this, what semblance they do have of 'sales enablement' (also on operations side) is small, blind and ineffective that the sales team is perpetually ill-equipped to do their job. Intro calls become guesswork.
BD management does nothing to help this situation with even basic training being reduced to 'its in confluence - look it up'. Nobody takes the time to listen to calls, feedback etc
major issue is the complete lack of strategic planning. The company hires people without any clear direction, then fires them just a couple of months later when the strategy inevitably changes—or due to internal political games. This isn’t a rare exception; it’s a consistent and alarming pattern. A large number of people have been let go without valid cause, creating a culture of fear and instability.
To make matters worse, leadership is a joke. Many managers act like bullies, creating a hostile environment instead of offering support or guidance. Top management operates like they’re untouchable, with one person in particular acting as if he knows everything—yet is blind to the dysfunction all around him. It’s a toxic culture from the top down.
Amazing people overall, very down to earth people, the mission is super cool
Some areas are lagging behind and never recovered from hypergrowth and behave as if the company needs constant micromanaging.
Actively shape our culture: give committed team-mates the space to grow and reasons to stay. Spell out what “great performance” means, pair it with transparent bonuses and career paths, and tackle the lingering toxicity in Customer Success. Don't let people go suddenly, this is not the USA
Generally OK, some toxicity and poor managerial skills from top level managers in CS and HR
It's a start-up, meaning you make longer hours, but overall good
If anything in this direction happens it will be agreed on between your manager and you, but expect your manager to have fight the with HR (the vp, sometimes) to actually get it for some reason..
Salary and benefits are OK, but you have to fight for every crumb
Prewavers tend to be very good buddies for the most part, and is one of the best part of this company
Prewave is a very young company
Decisions are not transparent in areas like sales (bonus payout), areas like human resources suffer from poor leadership and headcount bloat with no structural vision or plan for the company
Overall OK
In this post hypergrowth phase, communication occurs in siloes and is chaotic, some great initiatives like the company newsletter
Was nice, but seems like nothing is planned for pride month anymore
Work at Prewave is multifaceted and fun
Knowledgeable colleagues, work with programming languages of choice, open and relaxed atmosphere for parts of the organization
sitting on gold, but refusing to work with it. founders are involved in super small details, but are incapable of hiring good VPs to do work, or addressing problems with VPs they like
get rid of your ineffective managers, change up the organization, and have founders stop making terrible managerial hiring decisions
Many of us are afraid we will lose our jobs, but nobody from management is picking this up
work very hard
Growth is difficult, for managers human resources leaves you to yourself. Tech stack is stale, and not picking up quickly on new trends. There is a very limited training budget
prewave has a culture of firing people on the same day for some reason
Untransparent, top performers that are toxic are celebrated
However, one area that could benefit from improvement is the open office layout. While it fosters collaboration and communication, the noise and distractions can sometimes make it challenging to focus on tasks requiring deep concentration. Implementing dedicated quiet zones or soundproof booths would allow employees to switch between collaborative work and focused tasks more easily. Additionally, offering a variety of workspaces—such as semi-enclosed desks or flexible working areas—could accommodate different work styles and increase overall productivity.
Man muss bereits Überstunden machen.
Super Stimmung
In DACH sehr gut
Schwaches Gehalt
Obwohl man für Nachhaltigkeit steht, werden diese Themen eher oberflächlich behandelt. Im Sales sind unnötige Flugreisen Standard
Alle halten zusammen

Junior leadership
Mal besser mal schlechter
- great work life balance
- stability
- fabolous team; it is fun working and socializing together
- good communication
- extra benefits
- public transportation closeby
- good food options closeby
- a bit chaotic in hierarchy as team infrastructure is still changing, but I guess that comes with a fast growing start-up company. I take it as a good sign.
durch eine offene und respektvolle Kommunikation der Kollegen, weiss man immer was zu tun ist
the team, tasks, team events, work life balance
nothing so far
larger office which is already planned anyway
Great atmosphere in the team, people help each other, and thanks to the regular team events, fun is never neglected.
so far I haven't heard anything negative about Prewave's image.
Thanks to voluntary presence in the office, you can manage your (free) time very well.
as a new employee, this was not yet an issue
very appropriate for a start-up
We resolve to do better ;)
I'm relatively new to the team and so far I haven't noticed any disagreements among colleagues. Everyone is really very friendly!
Very young team.
However, as the company is still growing, older colleagues may well join soon....
Despite the high workload of the managers, you can almost always turn to them with any concern. And you don't get the feeling that there are strict hierarchies in the company.
As previously mentioned, due to rapid growth, office space is still limited. However, we will move to a larger office soon.
Regular team and cross-team meetings take place, but also spontaneous exchange without having to go through long processes
Higher proportion of male colleagues in line with the industry, but you don't get the feeling that differences are made. Very diverse team from a wide variety of countries.
Very exciting industry, a wide variety of customers and new challenges waiting every day
So verdient kununu Geld.
