Some points to consider

2,2

Hat zum Zeitpunkt der Bewertung im Bereich Marketing / Produktmanagement bei SAMSUNG Electronics Austria GmbH in Wien gearbeitet.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Atmosphere and work within individual teams are OK. However, work between teams is troublesome and difficult because each team focuses too much on their team's interest.

Kommunikation

Communication within the teams are OK but transparent and truthful communication with HR and top managers does not really exist. Issues and responsibilities of HR and top managers are pushed down to mid-managers and employees with unclear guidelines.

There is a separate Korean communication line, which mostly Koreans/top managers know about. However, it is not clear what is being discussed in the background. Transparency is needed.

Company goals and vision are unclear. Only short-term targets are communicated. No one communicates where we are headed. HR newsletters and email from president comes from time to time but it can not be considered as real communication.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

High sales targets, bureaucracy, short-term deadlines and many unnecessary approvals leave the teams no other choice but to stick together and survive. Team members are mostly helpful.

Work-Life-Balance

Most positions do not have work life balance. HR tells each manager to reduce overtime for their teams but with no support of new personnel or work process change.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Employees are motivated with false hopes and empty promises. Fair promotion process and fair salary increases are hard to find.

Interessante Aufgaben

Some work hard
Some others, no one knows what they are doing
Distribution of work is not fair in all teams

Gleichberechtigung

The sex ratio is not much of an issue (ex. HR department is currently all women) and throughout the company it seems balanced overall.

However, there is a racial disparity and profiling that goes both ways for non-Koreans and Koreans.

Most non-Koreans are not involved in the top level Korean communication and therefore, for important decisions they can be treated with bias. In many cases, Koreans overrule decisions with no clear explanation.

On the other side, Koreans are expected to outperform non-Koreans. There is also a Korean hire limitation as HQ tracks how many Koreans are in the company.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Respect shown to older colleagues and also to young starters is not an issue.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Location is good (2nd district - Nestoryplatz) with a great tower view. Home office regulation is 2 days per week , but depending on managers and teams it can be different.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Environment : never heard of this word in the company
Social work : Some exists (Caritas etc.)

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

The salary for long staying, loyal employees is not fair. If you quit and come back, you can get much more salary than others who have stayed longer in the company. This salary increase process demotivates employees to stay long at the company and is also a big loss for the company in the long run.

Image

Samsung brand image is good but does not help with the daily core issues.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Non-existent from the educational side and limited for a career development.

Currently 1/3 of the company are managers or heads. It shows how limited and thin the real skill development potential is.
