The atmosphere has been in decline for months - it shows that employees have been neglected for too long
Top management thinks everything is great, while everyone below is demotivated and knows how bad things are going
High pressure caused by capacity issues, not a new topic which has been ignored for a long time from what I heard
External hires for higher positions, internally only rarely actual promotions.
Very low overall compensation package, but middle management becomes puppets of top management to repeat that it is fair and "competitive". Some adjustments were granted recently, but still below market average because of all-in contacts, the bonuses etc. do not really make sense when you think longer term
Good efforts and initiatives
The best part of the company are the great colleagues
Guilt-tripping and emotionally pressuring longer serving employees into positions that are worse than what they deserve and are qualified for
Multiple people in top management just act straight up inappropriately - if they were in any other position, they would not be part of the company anymore.
Additionally, managers talk bad about people who left the company.
Some people got into power positions because they are good with top managers, not because of the right qualifications
Good laptops
The all-hands meetings don't address the real problems.
Problems are being downplayed or not even mentioned by management - "everything is fine"
No transparency from the company side, or "everything is fine", but when talking to colleagues it seems there are inequalities
Changing job titles but not responsibilities; or simply add more tasks for same compensation
Snacks and drinks
Nobody wants or can take over responsibility.
"Open door policy" is just a phrase, it isn't meant that you can come to talkt to someone if you have something business related.
Some departments should get a "doesn't concern me award"
Equality between departments, some are more worth than others, or at least not discriminated.
Listen clearly to your employees
Invite everyone who is affected in projects
Have a clear way where you would like to go to an communicate it in an easy and clear way.
Stop demotivating employees in 1o1's
Massage chair is not motivating when everything else is demotivation
nobody is motivated for work atm.

Work > Life
Nearly no chance for a real development. Job titles change regularly but you're still doing the same work
Market pay's more, nevertheless a salary increase is not possible
The most important thing is that all work is done, if someone doesn't feel well it will be ignored
In single teams it is working, cross team it's not happening
there is not a clear vision where we would like to go to, tasks are changing on a weekly basis.
Not really happening, at least mostly only for orders.
Nobody know where we would like to be in half a year, neither in 2 weeks.
Feels like a huge family
Tolles Onboarding, sehr nette Kollegen - toller Zusammenhalt
the colleagues!
very friendly and open minded environment
you get the possibility to work on your own and without too much supervision - but also high workload from the beginning on
Definitely depends on the role and department.
Sometimes high pressure from the client side + internally.
at the beginning you learn so much super quickly, which is great. After a while it is getting less and less. Learning programms which are offered, do not really meet the expectations.
in general good for entry level jobs - but when you compare it to the hours you have to work to get your things done, it could definitely be better.
The team I worked in was simply great - couldn´t complain at all. It was fun also during tricky times!
very young and dynamic team
super easy to talk to - open for feedback
very open and flexible. although sometimes it can get a bit loud and the number of meetingrooms should be improved.
in general they really try to be proactive when it comes to communication, but sometimes big topics do not get as much attention as they should
smec Application: it was very well structured and also pretty fast process. It was a nice experience especially for someone who does not have any experience with job applications.
smec Onboarding: it is definitely a lot of information at the beginning, but the whole onboarding process is well structured and developed. All the workshops are very insightful! What I also like is that there is no pressure to do everything all at once and we have time to settle in and find our own rhythm.
The working atmosphere is amazing. Everyone is friendly and very helpful. It is very easy to ask someone for their help, expertises, etc.
Everyone is very open and helpful! We can talk about work related matters, but also anything like personal interest, etc.
Communication structure is well done! We are all informed about new things, or any necessary information.
the colleagues
it looks like the company grew too quickly and now is dealing with some effects of it
More transparency and to care more about the employee's actual concerns, bringing a competitive package to the employees
high pressure environment, high trust and freedom, large responsibilities very early on
problems are sometimes being ignored or downplayed which leads to rumours and dissatisfaction
depends a lot on the department and team, even entry level positions are getting all-in contracts to deal with capacity problems
at the beginning you learn a lot very quickly whicih makes this a great company for recent graduates
after the onboarding workshops learning happens mainly on online platforms, internally there are often new roles to change the field of work but actual career advancements are very rare, usually external hires for higher positions
very low for IT company, in some cases not even competitive in term of agencies; no transparent salary levels and overall very intransparent
overall benefits package is very weak for which the argumentation is the great culture
very good initiatives mainly donating money - supporting social engagement by dedicating working time would be a great idea
great, smart colleagues!
the opinions of older colleagues are usually even preferred
The team leads try their best, but most the decisions that have an impact are made top-down
some managers use the good personal relationships to their employees to make them take decisions in their own favour
not enough meeting rooms and phone boxes which leads to people taking calls in the middle of the open office, but noise cancelling headphones are not provided
IT support is great and all employees are provided with home office equipment
all hands meetings do take place, but many topics are being kept secret which leads to rumours
many nationalities and cultures, however there is not enough transparency to really know if everyone is treated equally
can get repetitive, but there are options to get into different topics and diversify the tasks
Die Firma bringt jeder Mitarbeiterin und jedem Mitarbeiter vom ersten Tag an volles Vertrauen entgegen und man wird "als Erwachsener" behandelt.
- Smec's culture: welcoming, multicultural, open-minded, highly professional yet laid-back
- Smec's onboarding process: very intense, well structured, thought through
- Office dogs :-)
The internal offerings for lunch are delicious but quite expensive - price and variety of choices could maybe be improved. But that's really criticism on a high level.
Smec's team creates an extremely supportive, welcoming and warm atmosphere for its employees, and barely makes any difference between interns and full-time Smecies. I also really enjoy the office interior in Linz!
Interns are able to acquire Google Certificates, attend a large amount of workshops and training and so on.
Small differences between interns could be made depending on previous educational or professional training - however, considering the amazing amount of workshops solely dedicated to personal learning, it's fair enough.
Incredibly supportive environment - one of the things I appreciate the most!
Also interns quickly get the chance to personally get to know everyone in the C-Level.
Communication between colleagues, the teamleads and the C-Level is well-structured and open. Everyone is encouraged to openly communicate with each other.
Interesting mix of workshops (lots of personal learning components) and actual tasks in your assigned division/team.
Outstanding onboarding process which provides all the necessary know-how to perform well in your position and get to know the company, its products and its core values.
Amazing atmosphere at the Linz office, everyone is welcoming of new colleagues and you can turn to anyone for help.
Flexible working hours providing an opportunity to establish your own work-life balance.
Well-structured communication, informing the employees on important matters clearly and regularly.
So verdient kununu Geld.
