The company offers many benefits, including meals, a company phone, various events and celebrations, as well as opportunities for business travel. It is also a very international environment, with people from many different countries and backgrounds, which can be a great experience.
Unfortunately, the positive aspects are overshadowed by the internal culture and management style.
There are certain individuals who seem to have an enormous amount of influence and are able to make decisions according to their own interests. Different opinions, suggestions or constructive criticism are often not welcomed. If you express an opinion that differs from the established view or try to stand up for yourself, you can quickly find yourself excluded or treated as a problem.
Over the years, I have seen several highly capable and talented people leave or be pushed out because they were not willing to simply agree with everything. It creates an environment where people learn that it is safer to stay quiet than to speak honestly.
Unfortunately, there is also a lot of politics and favoritism. Some people seem to know exactly how to position themselves and whom to please in order to get what they want. This can be extremely frustrating for employees who genuinely want to contribute based on their work and abilities.
The company presents itself as supporting work-life balance, but in practice the experience can be very different. Employees can feel pressured to work long hours, while officially being told that nobody is forcing them to do so. At the same time, working overtime can somehow become an issue. As a result, some employees have started not recording all of their overtime simply to avoid creating problems for themselves.
The overall atmosphere can therefore become quite toxic. There are many people who are friendly to your face but may behave very differently behind your back. Trust is difficult to build when employees feel that expressing an honest opinion can have negative consequences.
Create an environment where employees can genuinely disagree, provide feedback and make suggestions without fearing consequences. Decisions should be based on competence and performance rather than internal politics or personal relationships.
If the company truly wants to promote work-life balance, it should also ensure that working hours and overtime are handled consistently and transparently.
There are many talented people in this company. The biggest improvement would be to create a culture where those people are encouraged to speak up rather than learning that staying silent is the safest option.
