Welche?
Man verkauft Eiscreme und macht bubblewaffles... nothing more, nothing less.
I wanted to talk about something about Leonardo. But unfortunately it's a system carefully designed for exploitation.
The exploitation of vulnerable young immigrants who are energized and motivated to work and grow in their new country. They are overworked to the point of exhaustion and continue to demand more.
Respect professionals. Many came to Switzerland with a lot of experience and even university degrees. A young person starting out in another country should be a great opportunity for the company too. Because many of these young people have the motivation and commitment to dream of a new life. Encouraging, believing in, listening to and financially rewarding these employees fairly. Stop taking these people's lives as just another "number". Don't sabotage the trajectory and path of these young people who once believed in the seriousness and responsibility that you supposedly presented.
Extremely hostile.
When you arrive at the company, they create an image of a serious press that cares about you. There is a day called "welcomeday" where they ask you to go to the factory and see the production of Gelato, accompanied by the owner of the company "Leonardo" showing trust and care for new employees and then a meeting with the history of the company. Everything seems well organized and respectful. Until they overload you with tasks that weren't agreed upon and expect you to submit and put up with all the overwork and humiliation, quietly. The profile they're looking for is always the same. Young immigrants who dream of getting a job.
There is no personal life working for this company. The schedules are totally mixed. One day you work in the morning, the next in the evening and the next in the middle of the day. The company wants you totally adapted to it and if you question or ask for a review, you are ignored. And when you're taken by surprise while you're at work, they extend your working hours if you give them permission.
The company doesn't care much, except that it's located in a shopping center where the rules are developed by them. And they are obliged to comply.
They have no career path for their employees.
The employees, apart from the team leaders. They work well and because they are extremely overloaded they end up disorganizing their emotions, which those of us who work together know how to understand.
The leadership is unprepared and they're only there because they've put in extra, exhausting work. Finally, we see authoritarian leadership, seeking power and authority over the employees they lead. There is no team, there are several leaders feeding off their subordinates. Leaders who are with you and don't help you with your chores, who are in the store knowing that the flow of customers is high and you're alone and don't bother to help.
Conditions are precarious. Inhuman and very disrespectful. They treat you as a number and not as an employee who deserves to be listened to and respected.
The company doesn't listen to the employee, especially when it comes to reporting work overload. Which is clearly their requirement for a well-qualified employee: submission.
There are no benefits other than gelato and coffee!
The company doesn't fulfill what would actually be benefits or rights. It doesn't pay the 13th salary. It doesn't add extras to the night-time bonus. They force you to open and close the store and you have full responsibility for not paying extra. You have several jobs to do. And if you report exhaustion, or wear and tear that ends up happening. They don't talk to you, they don't try to understand and resolve things, they send you away and find someone else. That's why you start your 3-month contract on an hourly basis.
Perhaps it's the diversity of people and countries that the company is looking for. But it wouldn't be for an inclusive and social issue. Because the vast majority are immigrants looking for opportunities and knowing this, the company exploits them as much as it can. Because of the vulnerability and moment of inclusion in the country.
All the tasks are interesting. However, you do everything yourself and you're always being asked to do more and do it faster. You wait on tables, take the customer's order, go to the coffee bar and make the coffees and plate orders (by yourself), then you serve and charge the customer. In an intense flow, customers end up complaining about the delay in service. And you have to deal with the complaints, because there is almost never a leader to solve problems.
Supportive and carefulness
