* Solid learning and growth opportunities - especially if you like taking on responsibility quickly
* The dev teams are competent, and the code quality + architecture are surprisingly solid for a startup stage
* Collaborative team atmosphere, flat hierarchies, you can actually make an impact
* Classic startup energy: lots of autonomy, varied tasks, SaaS product with genuine market potential
* Extremely inconsistent goal setting: Only the customer-facing team gets clear deliverables and priorities from Product Management. The other three dev teams basically have to invent their own goals → this regularly leads to mismatches with C-level expectations and sometimes very emotional/public outbursts in team channels
* High stress and tension, especially among senior / longer-tenured developers - many seem burned out or constantly on edge. Unlike other companies where seniors are usually more relaxed, here it feels like a meat grinder. Weekend activity and late-night commits are visibly common
* Promised VSOP was emphasized during recruiting but has disappeared - no paperwork, no updates, no communication. It’s unclear whether my already worked months will even count toward any vesting period (if it ever materializes)
* Leadership style leans heavily toward US-style startup hustle: high pressure, low tolerance for mistakes, which clashes at times with what you’d expect in a German company
* Introduce clear, uniform goal-setting across all teams with proper alignment and sign-off from C-level - this would massively reduce frustration and surprise “corrections”
* Take work-life balance and burnout prevention seriously: set explicit expectations around weekends, communicate workload realistically, create actual recovery phases
* Finally make the VSOP concrete - issue grant letters, clarify vesting schedule and whether time already worked counts, communicate transparently. Otherwise it just feels like a bait-and-switch tactic
