A positive working environment, good classrooms and easy communication with the staff. Help was provided to set up in Germany with accommodation and administration.

I taught students of various levels and from different backgrounds. There was a mix of group and individual lessons. I taught face to face and online.

- don’t lie about payment and insult the intelligence of the freelancers
Working with the other freelancers was fine; however, constant late payments made it hard to trust management.
The clients often laugh about what a joke of a company it is
Often sent to the middle of nowhere with 3-4 hours of travelling in a day. The time was not compensated and often you had to leave at 5 or 6 a.m. to reach these places.

Payment was frequently late and if you didn’t chase and chase, it could be months. If you asked, you’d just be lied to about how transfers to your particular bank could take longer etc.

I suppose those score well here because they’re equally terrible to all freelancers. They don’t discriminate here!
Some of the company teaching was ok.
Gives teachers a lot of freedom which encourages them to be creative
The fact that they withhold payment after teachers send their notice. If one does not pursue them, they don't pay one's salary.
Pay your teachers on time, and don't withhold their payment when they give their notice. That is not legal.
The centre is nice, but as a freelance teacher we are sent to some locations which can be awful.
Some days are overwhelming starting at 6:30 am and ending at 9:00 pm; other days you might not have much teaching to do.

If one enjoys teaching, and moving around; it's actually not that bad. One discovers new towns and companies.
The office is spacious and the classrooms are well-stocked. You are provided with books and can make copies there. You normally teach at clients and if that's at a company, it will be in their meeting room and if it's continuing education for unemployed adults, it will be at one of those centres.
You won't get over 100 hours a month because that could make them liable for being sued for social benefits.
It's language training with a focus on business English so you may have intensive classes but you may have classes before or after work.
There are no promotions - the company can hardly pay the cheap freelancers it has on call.
You sometimes share classes with other freelancers. Some are professional and nice, some are backpacker types. It's a mix. Office staff when I was there were friendly and open.

What does late mean? Sometimes a few days, sometimes a few months - if you don't ask about it, it can really mean months.

See above. Pay is low and there are no opportunities for advancement. Training is not paid for. Meetings are not compensated.
They pay for your textbooks and you might get them to pay for your Bahncard. Travel fees will be reimbursed.
You receive your "schedule" without much notice, although they won't sign you up for a class without asking you. There is often zero flexibility as they have already agreed on hours and conditions with client. They may also ask you about long-term projects which never come to fruition but for which they have "blocked" your schedule (so you end up with few hours that month).
The biggest communication problem is lying about payment issues and future projects - so sure, they communicate with you but you don't know if it's true or not.

It's fun teaching at different companies and getting to know different people. I am still in contact with some students. If you like teaching, you will like your work.

- Hourly rate (13€/h) markedly inferior to that of other language schools; no extra pay for travel time or work outside of Erfurt
- Income very unreliable- courses postponed or cancelled at the whim of the client, sometimes for months at a time

- Expected to maintain full weekday availability for ELT despite the above points
- Crap rate of pay leaves trainers unable to pay for essentials such as health insurance, social security and income tax; company seems to make a point of hiring people from abroad who don't know the system and aren't immediately aware of the extent to which they are being exploited
- Expected to travel up to 3/4 hours in a day to visit company clients, sometimes with a 5am start and private classes in Erfurt in the evenings. For a 7.5 hour teaching day one can expect to earn around 130€ untaxed
- 'Hours guarantee' (20 per week) mentioned in contract means nothing
- Trainers often treated in an unprofessional manner by management and reception staff
I wasn't provided with enough work and had some very tough months. The company also held grudges when I wanted to take holiday and expected me to always be able to teach for them.
I was paid late several times without good reason. There were times when colleagues were paid half of their wage and the other half a week later. It was a completely unfair system.
