Steep learning curve as promised. Flexibility to work from home or entirely remote is wonderful. The team is extremely diverse and open. All in all, the positivity and high level of motivation of Globeone employees is what I liked the most about working here!
The longer hours make it difficult to follow up on training opportunities in my opinion. Client work takes precedent as it should but it is also important to prioritize internal topics like training opportunities especially in order to support professional development.
The team is young, competent and motivated to support clients with the best quality of work. There was much to learn from everyone. Feedback is provided frequently and transparency is respected, also at the partner level.
Before applying for the job, I was not aware of the company and in general, I wouldn't say that Globeone is super well known in the market. However, the client base of Globeone consists of many DAX and MDAX companies which, I believe, is quite impressive for a boutique consulting firm. The company also enjoys longstanding relationship with existing clients which provides a good flow of interesting projects.
As is usual in the consulting environment, the working hours can be somewhat long and demanding. Flexibility is expected and might involve longer evenings in the office or on the weekends (rarely) during busy seasons. Not as easy to fit in personal engagements during weekdays as could be the case that you have to spontaneously work longer hours in the evening. However, here, communication is key and you are not expected to work specific hours as long as you get the work done. Moreover, this is also not a constant and depends on project deadlines usually. Can say for certain that it is not as bad as in other management consulting firms. However, still believe longer hours should not be accepted as the norm & indeed, could be improved with better people/project ratio (which the management team attempts to do with frequent capacity planning efforts).
The compensation for the internship is really fair as you get paid for what you do.
It is a work in progress and is being pushed forward at the moment.
Really kind, friendly and willing to guide. They are interested in helping you grow and provide frequent and helpful feedback. Even as an intern, I felt heard and my thoughts/opinions were respected. You are able to support project work starting from Day 1 and will not be stuck working on internal topics only.
The location for the Cologne office is fantastic. There is no strict guideline on how often you are expected to work from the office. You can work from home which highly contributes to flexibility despite the long hours. I found it beneficial personally to work mostly from home. If you are someone who gets motivated working around people, this can also be arranged as on certain days of the week, more colleagues work from the office. The company is also inclusive towards interns and includes them in company benefits such as the job ticket and quarterly meetings.
If you are interested in certain topics, you are able to express it to your colleagues and you will be happily allowed to contribute. In short, proactivity is appreciated. Similarly, if you are interested in communications topics, there is a lot of opportunity here. My interest in these topics were somewhat limited but I still enjoyed the tasks and learned a lot. However, since I envisioned my professional development in a slightly different direction (working more in quantitative projects), I did feel at times that there were not enough projects catering to these needs. If you are interested to work with Excel and enjoy numbers/data, the Purpose Readiness Index study can certainly be an interesting project. On the other hand, I also had an interest in sustainability topics and in this aspect, one had opportunity to work on interesting topics.
Respekt und Wertschätzung durch die Vorgesetzten und Kollegen, flache Hierarchien, flexibler Arbeitsort (Office oder remote), spannende und vielseitige Projekte
Auf der Arbeit habe ich mich wohl gefühlt und die Atmosphäre ist insgesamt freundlich und locker.
Dadurch dass man einfach, spontan und auch langfristig remote arbeiten kann, ermöglicht es einem gewisse Flexibilität. Auch ist man autonom, wie man seinen Arbeitsalltag gestaltet. Allerdings ist arbeiten bis zum (frühen) Abend eher die Regel. Im Vergleich zu anderen Beratungsunternehmen sicherlich schon nicht schlecht. Im Gesamtkontext wäre aber noch Luft nach oben.
Die Vorgesetzten sind großartig. Sie sind sehr freundlich, interessiert, wertschätzend und locker. Vorschläge oder Initiativen stehen sie offen gegenüber.
Die Kommunikation ist gut und man kann auch die Kollegen einfach um Hilfe und Feedback bitten.

Mein Praktikum bei diesem Unternehmen war fantastisch! Die Arbeitskultur ist außergewöhnlich, die Vielfalt der Bereiche, die ich kennenlernen durfte, war beeindruckend. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die kulturelle Vielfalt im Team und die Möglichkeit, Englisch im Alltag zu verwenden. Wenn man in diesem Bereich arbeiten will, ist dieses Unternehmen definitiv empfehlenswert.
Die Arbeitsatmosphäre war äußerst positiv und unterstützend. Man fühlt sich von Anfang an willkommen.
Der Work-Life-Balance-Aspekt ist ebenfalls ausgezeichnet. Die Möglichkeit, von zu Hause aus zu arbeiten, trägt dazu bei, Flexibilität und Komfort zu fördern. Im Büro werden auch kleine Snacks angeboten, was den Arbeitstag angenehmer gestaltet.
Der Zusammenhalt unter den Kollegen ist prima. Alle sind sehr nett und integrieren dich sofort ins aktuelle Arbeitsgeschehen.
Das Verhalten der Vorgesetzten ist toll. Sie sind sehr nett und zugänglich. Besonders bemerkenswert war die Gelegenheit, ein persönliches Gespräch mit einer der Vorgesetzten zu führen, was nicht oft gesehen ist.
Die Kommunikation war sowohl online als auch persönlich immer auf Augenhöhe und äußerst respektvoll.
Das Arbeitsklima und die Vielseitigkeit an Kollegen aus aller Welt. Der Team Geist hat mich sehr positiv überrascht!
Das Team war extrem hilfsbereit und hat mich wo es ging unterstützt. Die Atmosphäre war total familiär und es hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht mit allen zusammen zu arbeiten!!
Durch flexible Arbeitszeiten und die Wahl zwischen Büro und Home Office war eine individuelle Anpassung sehr gut möglich!!

Alle hatten das gleiche Recht ihre Meinung zu sagen und ich wurde auch als unerfahrene Praktikantin nach meiner Meinung gefragt und das Interesse an gegenseitigem Unterstützen war sehr groß
An dieser Stelle ist erneut der Teamgeist hervorzuheben. Hier hat man sogar als Praktikant das Gefühl, fester Bestandteil des Unternehmens zu sein.
Eventuell könnte noch etwas am ökologischen Fußabdruck sowie der Kommunikation gearbeitet werden, und dann passt eigentlich alles super!
Die Arbeitsatmosphäre ist insgesamt durch ein hohes Maß an Zusammenarbeit geprägt. Die, denn Consulting oft nachgesagte Ellenbogenmentalität habe ich während meiner Zeit bei Globeone nicht erlebt. Auch die Möglichkeit, flexibel von zu Hause oder aus dem Kölner Büro direkt am Rheinauhafen zu arbeiten, habe ich in dieser Hinsicht als sehr angenehm empfunden.
Durch seine recht einmalige Positionierung im Bereich Purpose & Unternehmenskultur sowie Studien wie den Purpose Readiness Index hat Globeone unter den kleineren Boutiquen sicher eine starke Positionierung im Markt. Zu den Kunden zählen zudem seit vielen Jahren bekannte Unternehmen aus DAX und MDAX sowie internationale Klienten.
Da dies meine erste Erfahrung im Consulting war, kann ich hier nicht im Vergleich zu anderen Boutiquen berichten. Nach alldem, was man jedoch hört und liest (Insb. bei größeren Häusern), ist die Work-Life-Balance wirklich top. Ich habe zwar selten meine vertraglich fixierten 40 Stunden eingehalten, und mitunter auch bis nachts oder am Wochenende gearbeitet, was aber sicher auch eine Frage der eigenen Proaktivität war. Jedenfalls hatte ich mit wenigen Ausnahmen nicht das Gefühl, dass diese Mehrarbeit zwingend erwartet wurde. Auch die fest angestellten Kollegen haben mir überwiegend berichtet, dass sie 50/60+ Stundenwochen kaum erleben. Somit ist ein weiterer klarer Pluspunkt bei GO, dass Mitarbeiter nicht verschlissen werden. Könnten hier halbe Sterne vergeben werden, wären es auf jeden Fall 4,5!
Nach meinem Eindruck war Ersteres nicht sehr ausgeprägt, auch wenn man sich durchaus Gedanken macht, wie der ökologische Fußabdruck gesenkt werden kann. Jedoch scheint es bisher noch ein Stück weit an der Umsetzung zu haben. Einige soziale Projekte werden unterstützt.
Wie oben bereits angedeutet, ist die Kollegenzusammenarbeit exzellent. Man unterstützt sich gegenseitig bei Projekten, was nebenbei noch den positiven Effekt hat, dass man nicht so monothematisch arbeitet. Der morgendliche Teams-Call, indem jeder kurz sagt, welche Aufgaben anliegen.
Insgesamt ist das Globeone Team sehr jung. Jedoch wurde nie der Eindruck vermittelt, dass man bei entsprechender Qualifikation nicht auch ältere Kollegen einstellen bzw. diese nicht entsprechend gleichwertig behandeln würde.
Insgesamt passt die Kommunikation sehr gut, und auch die flachen Hierarchien haben mir gut gefallen. Selbst als Praktikant habe ich eng mit den Managing-Partnern an Projekten gearbeitet, und hatte nicht das Gefühl, von diesen nur zum „Kaffeekochen“ gebraucht zu werden.
Modernes und leistungsstarkes technisches Equipment wird bereitgestellt, und auch weitere Gadgets können bei Bedarf angefragt werden (z.B. Verbindungsadapter für Apple-Geräte). Das Büro in einem der Kölner Kranhäuser ist ebenfalls modern, hat eine exzellente Lage, und bietet einen tollen Blick auf Rhein und Dom. Hier kann man sehr gut arbeiten
Insgesamt ist die teaminternen Kommunikation sehr transparent, und auch die Managing-Partner teilen relevante Informationen mit dem Team. Feedback/ Eine Evaluierung der geleisteten Arbeit könnte jedoch schneller erfolgen bzw. klarer formuliert sein, da dies dazu beitrüge, dass während der eigentlich Arbeitszeit weniger „Lücken“ entstehen, und man seltener später Abend/ am Wochenende etwas fertigstellen müsste. Grundsätzlich besteht aber die Möglichkeit, jederzeit Feedback einzuholen.
Praktika werden sehr gut bezahlt. Sonstige Gehälter sind wettbewerbsfähig, aber nicht herausstechend.
Die große Projektvielfalt macht es sehr interessant und abwechslungsreich. Natürlich ist nicht jede Research oder das Erstellen sämtlicher PPPs spannend, aber das ist ja auch Teil des normalen Arbeitslebens.
Man fühlt sich von Tag eins sehr wohl und wird schnell aufgenommen - auch wenn das Onboarding durch Home Office gar nicht so leicht war. Eine sehr angenehme und professionelle Arbeitsatmosphäre.
Aufgelegte Studien von GO werden regelmäßig in bekanntesten, deutschen Zeitungen geteilt und spannende, international agierende Kunden kommen dazu.
Man lernt von Anfang an viel dazu und wird sehr gut ins Team eingebunden. Tolle Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten entstehen bei passendem Arbeitseinsatz und Leistung.
Praktikum ist im Vergleich gut bezahlt.
Man bekommt regelmäßig Feedback und wird somit schnell besser. Zudem wird einem der nötige Freiraum gegeben, eigene Ideen zu entwickeln. Gute Leistungen werden wertgeschätzt. Top!

Das Team kommuniziert offen, vertraut sich und unterstützt sich bei Engpässen.
Die vielen, international ausgerichteten Projekte sind sehr spannend. Man kann oft eigenen Interessensschwerpunkten gezielt nachgehen.
Globeone has a diverse and young team with an international mindset. The hirarchy is relatively flat and everybody in the company is approachable (in Cologne as well as remote in Zurich). Interns are an integral part of the team and its projects. While the number of clients is small compared to bigger consultancies (naturally), one gets the opportunity to work on a variety of diverse and interesting projects. Of course, the Cologne Office in the Kranhaus is a great location. Overall, highly recommendable!

Wie in Beratungen üblich, gibt es natürlich Tage, an denen mehr gearbeitet wird. Trotzdem ist die Work-Life-Balance insgesamt angemessen, da man sich alles sehr flexibel einteilen kann

Man sollte sich darüber im Klaren sein, dass man sich in der Unternehmensberatungsbranche bewirbt, aber man kann sich generell sehr gut und flexibel mit dem Arbeitgeber abstimmen.

Also not a great point. The office in Cologne had round about 12 employees, being 8/9 of them consultants and interns. These 8/9 employees worked in one office, an open-office. Still they communicated between them via skype. The person could be just 2 meters behind you, but they still talked to you though Skype. Nobody wanted to break the silence in the office, so no one talked. Also, only 1/2 of the consultants were truly supportive and kind to help the less experienced ones. The others do not even care if you exist.
Globone is a small company that almost no one knows. Thus its image is not so significant.
Let's put it like this - The work life balance was not bad, concerning that they call themselves a consulting company. Comparing to other consulting companies, the working hours were not bad: from 8:00 until 19:00-21:00. The problem is that although they call themselves a consulting company, they are not in fact. They are more like a marketing agency making powerpoint slides. So, comparing with other companies developing such a job that nothing has to do with consulting, these working hours are too long. When you leave the company everything - supermarkets, stores, etc - is already closed. They subtly demand that you work much more than 40 hours a week always saying that they are a consulting company and thus, it is normal that you work so long.
The company supports an organization that helps children from poor countries, which I find very positive! However, no recycling.
No chance for carrier, since the company is very small and has a very flat hierarchy - or you are an intern, or a consultant or a manager. But that is pretty normal for small businesses.
I was a little bit disappointed at the relationship between the colleagues. All consultants/interns working there had between 23 and 30 years-old, however there was no special connection between them. It was actually very weird how employees in the same age range did not have a closer relationship. They also were not very open when integrating new members in the team, leaving them always by themselves with very little support. Sometimes just a bit of small talk, instead of just ignoring that the person is there, is enough to make them feel more integrated and appreciated.
Different managers, some better than others.
This was for sure their best point. When I worked there, the office was great - it had all the conditions any employee needs, a great view over the river Rhein, a lot of space for everyone to work, central location, very fancy. However I know that in the meanwhile they have changed their facilities to some much more modest ones.
Communication, in a company that promotes itself as very international, was always in German. At that point in time I still had not learned any German, therefore I could not understand a word. Sometimes colleagues and chief were surprised that I was not aware of things that were going on in the company - of course not, it was not communicated for all employees to understand.
In my case this was not bad, but also not great. What I did not like is that they differenciated a lot the interns, some of them earning much more money than others. But of course, they were always supposed to work as late as necessary... Also no support for interns in terms of public transportation (monthly ticket), lunch, or equivalent.
The concept of globeone is interesting, the problem is that their activity is in the end not what they promote they do, and consequently the work is not interesting at all, actually it is very boring. Globeone is supposed to be a marketing and strategy consulting company that helps companies bringing its products to BRIC countries, or helps companies from BRIC countries which want to bring a product to Europe/Germany. This is the job you are promised: marketing and strategy consulting. However, as these kind of projects are not always possible, consequently the work is then more centered in making only powerpoint presentations. This was my job: making ONLY powerpoint slides everyday (besides writing articles for the company's blog...), which had nothing to do with consulting. Globeone produces high-quality slides, but that was only it. I felt extremely disappointed and had zero motivation to go to work everyday. Powerpoint slides anyone without a degree can do. I felt it was incorrect to promise me, as an intern, that I would learn a lot about marketing consulting when in the end, I didn't at all, and still cannot say that I brought with me significant learnings. Another important point is that the interns have no contact at all with the client, so also no experience is provided in that area.
