Some colleagues and my team lead were supportive and helpful.
High workload, long overtime hours, poor communication, gossip, outdated equipment, and short-term contracts
More transparency!
The atmosphere is stressful. There are a lot of last-minute tasks and unclear instructions. There is a lot of gossip and mean comments behind people’s backs. Not a pleasant place to work.
Work-life balance is very difficult. It is seen as normal to always be available. Some people are always available because the workload is so high.
IFA is organized by Clarion, which also hosts defense shows like DSEI. I personally find this ethically difficult.
IFA generates a lot of waste. Although Clarion talks about sustainability, I did not see much real action. After the event, there is sooo much leftover electronics, materials, and disposable items.
The salary is okay. But there is no long-term career development because the event only happens once a year, and many jobs end after that.
Some coworkers are friendly and helpful, but there was also gossip and favoritism. Some people acted in ways that felt like bullying, and nothing seemed to be done about it. I am glad I am no longer working there.
They hire people for about six months before the event. You work very hard and go through so many stressful situations, and then they tend to fire people after 6 months.
Even though I got positive feedback from my team lead right before the end of the probezeit, I was still fired by management on my last day of probation. I guess they only want people for a short time to prepare the event.
Communication depends on the team and the supervisor.
Benefits are very limited. No BVG ticket, slow computers, and no real perks.
Some tasks can be interesting because the event is big. But the event itself is old-fashioned, even though they try to present it as modern and cool. A few exhibitors are interesting, but most of it is not.
