Subject Matter Expert SME Analyst (f/m/d) - Procurement

A Snapshot of Your Day

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the Berlin Blades and Vanes procurement team has access to the data, reports, and automation processes they need to keep the business running smoothly. Using your understanding of both data principles and business needs, you will serve as the bridge between the global data science team and the Berlin business staff. You will work on a wide range of data-related tasks including proposing new reporting solutions, working with business staff to define and communicate their needs, collaborating with the data science team on solution development, validating data output, providing training and assistance to business staff, and helping to drive data projects forward generally. To be successful in this role, you will need to be adaptable, collaborative, and able to communicate technical concepts in a way that is accessible to a diverse audience.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Collaboration with business staff in blades and vanes operative procurement, commodity strategy, and supplier quality for the definition of project requirements, as well as the development of proof‑of‑concept projects or the creation of interim solutions to meet timely data needs of the business when appropriate
  • Communication of the Berlin procurement team’s needs to data science colleagues and coordination with the data science team to ensure fulfillment of business requirements through the collection of rigorous feedback and the facilitation of user testing protocols
  • Proactive solicitation of staff feedback on existing data tools and identification of potential areas for improvement
  • Assurance of data accuracy and consistency through output validation and correction, including the identification and documentation of bugs and errors in production BI and advanced analytics tools
  • Support to the data science team in the updating of existing data dashboards, the troubleshooting of legacy Excel and Alteryx files, and the execution of miscellaneous data‑related tasks
  • Preparation and delivery of formal internal trainings to support business staff, engagement in informal upskilling initiatives, and promotion of a data‑driven culture across the Berlin-based blades and vanes procurement business units

What You Bring

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in data analytics or another field of study with a strong data focus (e.g., Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, Business with data emphasis, Computer Science, Engineering, etc.)
  • First experience in completing data-based work in a business context
  • Ability for effective collaboration with both technical and non‑technical staff to solve problems in both English and German, combined with comfort in an international and multicultural working environment
  • Familiarity and entry‑level proficiency with data analytics concepts, supply-chain management data, and common data analytics applications and/or programming languages (e.g., PowerBI, Alteryx, Snowflake, SQL, Python, R, Excel, SAP)
  • Possession of previous experience in gas turbine procurement, strategic planning, and/or quality assurance as a beneficial asset
  • Fluent German and English (spoken and written)
