Collaboration among colleagues is exceptional.

Work-Life-Balance needs to become a focus point in the company. A clear vision and mission would help as well as clearer communication

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Unfortunately the work atmosphere has worsened significantly in the three years that I have been working here. The lack of a company vision has become obvious: ("why are we doing what we are doing? Because we want to be the best. Why? Because winning is fun.") Those answers have been given by top management despite them working on a standard vision-mission-goal setup which is just not implemented. Some colleagues have left the company because this has simply not been enough for them. If you are purpose-driven, this is not the place for you.
My main critique though is the lack of direction and respect for the employees. Internal surveys have been showing for years that people are suffering from a high workload and conflicting priorities, but new work is added on top and I personally know of at least 3 people with burnouts.

Kommunikation

Depends on the hierachy level. Among peers communication works usually well, though the merger with DS has made this significantly more difficult as the company cultures have been very different. What is sad is that the bi-weekly townhalls in which top management has in the past answered anonymous or spontaneous questions has become a top-down monologue where only previously selected questions are being answered. "If you have further questions, please contact me directly" if a question has not really been answered suggestes opennes and approachability, but it also leaves a bad feeling why those answers can't be given in public.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

You can apporach anyone anytime for support and colleagues are supportive. This has changed slightly after the merger last year but I still see this as a big upside workiung at Raisin.

Work-Life-Balance

As mentioned above: this isn't a consideration of the company or management. Too many people are working with too high workload for way too long leading to burnouts and frustration.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Depends significantly on the superior. But similar to interacting with colleagues I still see this on the plus side while working at Raisin. Unfortunately internal evaluations are mainly top-down and there is no formal feedback mechanism for superiors.

Interessante Aufgaben

This varies widely depending on your position and area. In general tasks are interesting, though you might need to work on very outdated tech stack as the company's replatforming is taking a lot longer than originally expected.

Gleichberechtigung

Raisin offers internal programs and events for women (to my knowledge only for women) and when filling new positions they are trying to aim for diversity. On a team and medium management level this seems to work. Unfortunately the higher management consists (with two exceptions) of middle-aged white men.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Not many older colleagues. However age seems to be not an important factor.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Raisin Berlin has a stunning office, but other locations are not so fortunate. The announcement to find another solution for the Hamburg office left some colleagues worried. Despite a rooftop terrace in Berlin, flexible working hours are definetively positive. Hardware is ok, but if you have a problem and solve this yourself, you might need to wait a long time since IT support is (as many) seriously understaffed and overworked.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Non-existent. Other than with the Ukraine war - where top management seems to be personally affected - social and environmental impact is nothing of importance to the company. Some initiatives are tolerated as long as they don't cost too many ressources and only when driven by employees.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Top management has made this clear "nobody works here only for the money." Which translates to: Salaries are to my knowledge average with some exceptions to the downside. ESOP program is offered, which is unusual and good for whoever is interested.

This depends a lot on who you ask. While top management is very well connected and Raisin continues to be usually very well reviewed in public, this changes when you switch to non-management positions, where lack of vision and benefits make Raisin as an employer less than average.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Personal training budget and internal trainings are nice but you need to be self-driven and organize everything for yourself. While I have seen some people rising through the ranks, for others and despite equal skills the only way was to continue in another company. Maybe a formalized career development plan would help.

A big part of our company culture is Learning and Development. With a yearly training budget of 1700 euros, every employee has the opportunity to grow within areas of interest. Furthermore, we are providing multiple trainings that are open for registrations as well as encouraging knowledge sharing amongst colleagues. We are utilising state-of-the-art technology (micro-services platform and kubernetes infrastructure.) and are empowering our engineers to participate in technical decision-making by joining technical working groups.

As feedback also plays an important role here, we are organising a yearly 360-degree feedback cycle for team leads, to provide them with a formal feedback mechanism.

The environment is important to us, which is why we have the internal initiative “Climate action at Raisin”. Every employee is invited to join and bring about suggestions improvements we can make.

Furthermore, a fun work atmosphere is encouraged with events like the summer and Christmas parties and smaller get togethers. We are proud of the great collaboration amongst colleagues. Additionally, In order to get a good picture of the atmosphere in the company, we conduct regular employee surveys and develop measures based on the results.

Another benefit is the flexible working hours, which are especially highlighted for our employees who are parents. As an addition, we are offering a parent kids room at our headquarter in Berlin.
