you really have to beg for colleagues to do the work or to do their work properly. Simply not answering emails or passing work over to others is almost standard practice. it's also often internally against each other
EDIT: The mood among employees is currently disastrous. As you can see from the standard response to the post below, neither HR nor the CEO is interested in changing anything at this company. My manager is not interested in his employees – the only thing that matters to him is that the work gets done. If HR spoke to employees, they would know this, too. The company isn't interested in retaining good employees or promoting those with potential.
