Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Das Gehalt kommt pünktlich. Gutes gratis Mittagessen.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Umgang mit den Mitarbeitern.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Walk the talk:

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Keine klare Kommunikation, keine klaren Ziele, keine klare Vision. Viel Selbstdarstelllung und wenig Inhalt.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Schönes Büro, gratis Mittagessen, gute Ausstattung.

Kommunikation

Katastrophal.

- Good office space with free snacks/food/drinks

- Excellent Home Office / Office work ratio

- Salary (if you have luck in negotiating it and getting liked by the right person(s))

- People (if you have luck landing a job in a good team)

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

With the recent layoffs - complete lack of leadership, and responsibility, no empathy, borderline sociopath behavior
- A lot of finger-pointing (they lie they're a learning company - they love finding someone to blame more than they let you learn on the job)
- Good PR, Marketing and difficult interviews just to be handed a mediocre job in a sub-par company

Verbesserungsvorschläge

- Employ the people who can actually develop the company further and who are organized,

- Get rid of the people who parasitize off from other people's work and people who have been proven toxic to the work environment

- Do more to improve the knowledge of existing employees who deserve a career improvement in every way

- Practice what you preach (even with your own defined core values)

Arbeitsatmosphäre

- Disorganization at it's core : company never managed to fix the issue of lack of communication (product managers, product owners, teams, slices etc.) leading to a lot of feature switching, often production rollbacks and hotfixes, people implementing what they want instead of what works integrated with the solution and what the customers want, nonsensical deadlines which ALWAYS lead to not compensated overtime and frustrations, and work even during weekends

- Mediocre middle - top tier management : your managers and leaders will in vast majority be the people who know the least about how the solution works and who posses the least technical knowledge to follow the ongoing discussions or provide constructive feedback/guidelines - more than often management looks at you for solutions even for their dilemmas and then reap the benefits like they came up with the solution/process/guide OR they provide without team consultation the nonsensical deadlines to top tier management - leading the teams to pick up the slack for their misinterpretation of the work.

Also, some of them can have a real toxic personality which can lead to a lot of undesired situations and negative work atmosphe

Image

They spent a ton of money to build it up - but that's just it - PR, underneath it all - they're just another fintech company but this one with a seriously bad management

Work-Life-Balance

- Unpaid overtime and company culture promoting working till you're burned out

Karriere/Weiterbildung

If it goes with the company's goals and you are friends with the right person in the company - yes, otherwise - only with a vast amount of luck.

There was a stream of nepotism in the workplace - new mid-top tier management bringing in their own people (more than oftentimes less competent than the already employed people) and then the existing employees were told to teach these newcomers everything they know to improve them for better positions than they have in the company.

Contrary to all the marketing tricks being said that the company respects the "radical candor", you have to be REALLY careful to who you tell what - wrong person interprets your words or passes comments them to someone else - it can be a career ending situation as seen oftentimes throughout the company (people getting fired and put on garden leave immediately or people who haven't progressed further in their career even though they earned it because they became unfriendly with the person in charge).

Also, there are no REAL metrics or baseline to which your performance is compared to, or the goals you are encouraged to set are measured in any meaningful way or if you achieve or overach

Gehalt/Benefits

Benefits - so far shown - a marketing trick:

* work from anywhere is not "ANYWHERE" - the list of countries where you cannot work is bigger than the list of countries where you can work, and getting the permission to work in a disallowed country takes a lot of time and a lot of approvals from different levels - team lead, engineering manager, C level etc...

* unlimited vacation time : even before this benefit there were cases of disruption to take the days off on every corner : from the disapproval of the team you work with, to the disapproval of the company if there's a feature or a product push planned (more often unplanned but required ASAP).

Also, taking these days or taking more days than the regulatory allowance (sick days, personal leave, special care leaves etc) negatively affects your performance reviews even though you overachieved your yearly goals by the end of year.

* 20 weeks parental leave - I have only overheard there were people who were already prevented and discouraged to take it since it's not desired for you to be off for so long from work

* Virtual stocks - do not be fooled by this, at the end of the year the stock amount you get is < 0.5 EUR

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Do not kid yourself - they don't care about any of it

Kollegenzusammenhalt

The toxic ones are usually the ones you have to spend the most times with, however there are a few which were really good

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Because of recent developments - they use you and then throw you away irregardless of your gender, years of service or age

Vorgesetztenverhalten

With the most recent layoffs - completely lacking remorse and humanity - borderline sociopath behavior

Arbeitsbedingungen

Office space great - office atmosphere not so much

Kommunikation

No transparency whatsoever

Gleichberechtigung

This was also to a point where they were hiring more women just to have a more clear "50-50" representation irrelevant of the skills other candidates were offering for some positions... which lead to a drop in quality...

Interessante Aufgaben

Only because whatever was previously done was done by completely beginner developers... they're even outsourcing new developments to more capable coworkers in other companies!

Hypocrisy at its finest.

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Liberty to work from home, benefits, modern working environment, great connections (infrastructure),

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Currently, it does not feel like one is appreciated.
Working for a company with no job security is difficult.
If there is no loyalty from above, how am I supposed to trust them and give everything?

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Don't just preach your DNA. Actually stick to it and enable your employees to do so as well. How are we supposed to "Act with integrity" or "Win as a team" if our top-management don't do it?

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Within the team it is a truly pleasant environment

Image

I would take the public image Bitpanda presents to the public with a grain of salt. Not everything is as it seems: unlimited holidays, free food, drinks and other benefits; but 270+ people lost their jobs from literally one day to the next.

Work-Life-Balance

With the unlimited holidays and the option of working from home the Work-Life-Balance is great. However some people have to stay long when month end rolls up. Now that so many people have been let go, that workload will only increase. Let's see how long the unlimited holidays will last.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

The decisions of who is promoted and who aren't is surprising to say the least. Some people can be partly responsible for certain events, yet receive a promotion.

Gehalt/Benefits

As many others have mentioned: the compensation is below the industry average. Especially for the hours expected from you.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Within teams it is great.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

My people manager... amazing. Above that... terrible. No transparency, no respect. They keep preaching their Bitpanda DNA but haven't shown once that they actually believe in it themselves.

Kommunikation

The top levels always preach how transparent they are. When people are let go, the people managers only receive a list after the decision who is let go has been made by people that have never even met the person they let go.

Interessante Aufgaben

I have learned a lot and for that I am truly grateful.

Hi there! It’s great to hear from you and that you’re finding the ability to work from home, our benefits, working environment and fellow Pandas to be great.

At Bitpanda, our DNA reflects the incredible culture we’ve built together with our Pandas. That’s why we do our very best to ensure that everyone on our rocketship lives and breathes each of them to make this an open, honest and fully transparent workplace. This also applies to how we communicate — as we always strive to ensure our communications follow these principles.

Unfortunately, it was impossible to predict the full extent of the current market situation. However, once it did become clear, this led to us having to make the difficult decision to downsize , hence making sure that we are a financially healthy company, able to weather the storm.. This scale-down was mapped based on our new business priorities, and teams were downsized in line with this new focus to prioritise safety and compliance, user experience and education.

We want to make sure that everyone in our den feels appreciated. That’s why salaries at Bitpanda are matched to the industry standard and are regularly reviewed. We also constantly measure our Pandas’ impact to ensure they are further rewarded for all their hard work and efforts. Other than monetary rewards, we also want to provide our folks with the best investment in themselves. So along with our flexibility-first approach to work (unlimited paid holidays, work from anywhere and recharge breaks), we also provide self-guided (but fully supported) growth opportunities to fuel career progression.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us here, and we wish you all the best.

Unprofessional, short-sighted and without values.

How employees are treated is an important sign of whether or not a company can be successful. At Bitpanda, employees count for nothing. Long working hours, bullying, inexperience, dismissals are sent to veteran employees by mail. Great interviews in the media without substance or real values. Hands off this company, if you want to have a successful career.

Hi there!

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. Our Pandas and their success and happiness are hugely important for us, at Bitpanda.

While we make no attempt to hide from the fact that this isn’t a typical 9-to-5, we always ensure that with our flexibility-first approach to work, all our folks here have the ability to rest and recharge to be at their best. We also believe in creating a fair and honest environment for everyone to thrive in, and there is absolutely no room for bullying or discrimination of any kind here. We strongly encourage youto raise any concerns with our People team at peopleteam@bitpanda if you any encounter any type of inappropriate behaviour. We will then work with you confidentially to tackle it and take the appropriate action to stamp it out.

Overall a nice job, but with room for improvement.

Image

Used to be great before mass lay-offs. I used to be very proud of this company.

Work-Life-Balance

Get ready to work many overhours.

Gehalt/Benefits

Was alright, but not amazing.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Unfortunately, there are no measures to help saving the environment. Lunch to go in plastic packaging, no proper food separation, merchandise being sent out in unnecessary large boxes, and energy-wise, no need to explain further...

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Within the team, the atmosphere has always been amazing, only with other departments it seems a bit competitive.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

There are barely any older colleagues.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Again, direct/ mid-management leaders are great. However, many decisions are made top-down, not always in the best way

Unfortunately the communication is quite intransparent and information gets lost due to a billion of slack channels, jira tickets etc.

Hi there! It’s great to hear that you’re enjoying our new Vienna HQ, the culture we’ve built together here and working alongside your fellow Pandas. To refer to some of the other points that you made:

— At Bitpanda, when it comes to sharing news, important updates and business announcements, we like to keep things simple and fast! That’s why we embrace Slack as our main tool for communication. However, to make sure that this is a fully transparent, open and honest working environment for all our folks to thrive in, we regularly give all our Pandas the opportunity to share what’s working well and where we need to improve in our completely anonymous Employee Voice Survey.

— Over the past few months, multiple factors have caused massive uncertainty in the financial markets. We watched the world events and market conditions intently, hopeful for a turnaround. Unfortunately we had to move fast and scale down our organisation to make sure we remain a financially healthy company, able to stay true to our mission.

— While everything we do at Bitpanda is to make investments accessible to everyone — this doesn’t mean we don’t also care deeply about our social and environmental impact. We will continue to review and make sure that, as a company, we operate as sustainably as possible.

— Working in one of the fastest-changing and demanding sectors means we know this is not your typical 9-to-5. However, it’s important to remember that while this is hard work, we’ll always give all our folks the chance to create a real impact, push boundaries and be surprised at just how much they can grow. We never expect our folks to have to burn themselves out and sacrifice their personal lives. Instead, with our unlimited paid holidays, working from anywhere options, and gender-neutral paid new parent leave policies, we ensure our folks have the freedom to find their right work-life balance to be at their best and are also rewarded for their impact.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about what it’s like to be in our den — we really appreciate it!

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Everything was already mentioned. You can't trust them at all. No job security as you can get laid off anytime, not matter how long you have been with the company (3-5 years or longer). They even laid off people, who are pregnant, sick or moved to Vienna with their whole family for their, which is just ridiculous.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Don't make any promises you can't keep -> saying that you were NOT laying off any employees in the near future

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Toxic working environment. Expecting people to work 24/7 with no exceptions. Even if you are sick (having cancer treatment etc), you are expected to work and deliver. C-levels asks you to do some extra work during the weekend for no extra pay or any benefits.

Image

On the outside everything looks like the best company every but as soon as you join, you will dispappointed quickly

Work-Life-Balance

You are expected to be available 24/7.

Gehalt/Benefits

Under market average, you will ALWAYS earn way more outside of Bitpanda and they will always try to lowball you with their offer

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Colleagues were always nice and supportive. They treated you like a human being compared to those C-levels, who are only looking out for themselves and get more money to enjoy and flex with their expensive lifestyle.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

I have never seen any old employees in the company

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Teamleads always tried their best to support us but in the end, the upper management aka c-levels has the last word about every single decision.

Kommunikation

One week they (someone from upper management) say they are have enough liquidity and don't plan on laying off staff in the near future. A few weeks later 300-400 employee were laid off.

Gleichberechtigung

People who are friends with the upper management always get their promotions and pay raises. If you are not one of them, don't expect to get a promotion or a pay raise at all.

Interessante Aufgaben

Interesting in the beginning but without the option to change departments, it gets boring very quickly

Hi there! We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us here.

Understandably, we know that the news of our decision to scale down our organisation came as a shock to many. Unfortunately, due to the impossible-to-predict current market situation, we had to move fast to make fundamental changes in how we operate to ensure we can navigate this storm and remain a financially-healthy company. That led us to make the difficult decision to scale down the size of our organisation as we focus on getting back to the basics and prioritise safety and compliance, user experience and education. It’s important to note that Pandas who are pregnant, on parental or sick leave are rightfully protected and are not affected by this restructuring.

While we know that working in one of the fastest-changing and demanding sectors means this is not your typical 9-to-5, we never expect anyone here to be available 24/7. Instead, to make sure that everyone feels energised and motivated to do their best, we always ensure that everyone here has plenty of time throughout the year to take breaks, spend time with loved ones and recharge. We are also committed to ensuring that Bitpanda is still a place where all our Pandas can find their best investment in themselves. That’s why we’ll continue to offer all our folks self-guided (but fully supported) growth opportunities, a flexibility-first approach to work and also reward the impact they’ve made.

Finally, thanks for all your hard work and dedication during your time with us. We wish you all the best in your next adventures!

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

HR, CEOs, toxic atmosphere, generally crap.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Sort it out. The company started going downhill years ago. Everyone saw it, how did you not?

Arbeitsatmosphäre

The people who want to work at Bitpanda are good, cool people. Unfortunately in the last few years - mismanagement and poor hiring has led to a horrible, toxic place to work.

Image

Used to be great but the recent laying off of hundreds of employees after a year of bragging about being rich has ruined all trust.

Work-Life-Balance

Says its flexible, but has an American culture of work till you drop. If you don't do that, you're 'not pulling your weight.' We have 40- contracts for a reason, Bitpanda!

Karriere/Weiterbildung

They are cutthroat. Will fire hundreds of people in a lunchtime meeting just like that. No career here anymore.

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Sticking to the traditional product it came from and reflection on past work and unsystematic hiring is needed. The fish stinks at the head.

Arbeitsatmosphäre

The folks are young and partly motivated, lot of things done to keep people happy and motivated (maybe distracting too much from really working)

Its all about strategic positioning to the outside world that hey, at this company, we got women in leadership roles. Hi Panda,
Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback, and we’re pleased to hear that you enjoy working alongside your fellow Pandas! At Bitpanda, we believe very strongly in providing equal opportunities for all. However, someone's gender is not the criteria we focus on at all and we never hire or promote people based on how this might make us seem or to generate a false equality perception of our company.
We always want to hear the good, the bad and everything in between from our Pandas so that we can continue to make this the optimal place to work and encourage growth in all our folks. To aid this, we’ve recently invited everyone across all our locations to take part in our Bitpanda Voice survey. This gives all of our Pandas the ability to share their ‘Radical Candor’ feedback anonymously and helps us build an inclusive, transparent and equitable environment for all to thrive in. The results of this survey are now being gathered and compiled, with all managers across every team in all our dens soon to be setting achievable actions to make sure we continue to improve. Please also don’t hesitate to reach out to our People Team at peopleteam@bitpanda.com if there is anything further that you would like to raise.

Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

meeting some very nice people (colleagues on the same level) there

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

see comments above

Verbesserungsvorschläge

Change of Leadership - the rot starts at the top

Arbeitsatmosphäre

- in general you can say there is little to no appreciation from management
(having a recharge week if you work 60h a week for months, does not do the effort)
- some of the colleagues are super nice - you'll find them - you're in this together
- long hours always

Image

Weirdly the image is still quite good - even if you can notice that there are already some people/headhunter who recognized whats going on tere.

Work-Life-Balance

Ask for the people who had burnout at Bitpanda or even better for those who are at risk.
"Unlimited vacation days" - I love it - nice thought, what a pity that no one mentions here that you don't even "dare" to use up your regular vacation days because you're swamped with work. Of course, this is all due to the team and not to the fact that the roadmap is changed every 2 weeks.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

- good for the CV - at least they think like that but in reality it's not; headhunter asking you how the environment is out of curiosity

(seems a lot of people currently working at Bitpanda are looking for a new job)

Gehalt/Benefits

Mediocre salary; as long as you not do the effort to calculate your salary/hour

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

Waste separation

Kollegenzusammenhalt

- completely depending on the department/team - if you're a lucky one you have some colleagues who brighten up your long days

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

There are no "older colleagues"

Vorgesetztenverhalten

C-Suite is completely incompetent due to lack of leadership experience and blind spots, which they also refuse to work on. You could learn something - but you don't want to - you do everything great anyway :D

That's why they stick to the motto: "Birds of a feather flock together," and instead bring even more narcissistically inclined personalities into management.

However, it has to be said that there is always a pearl to be found in the so-called pigsty - only unfortunately, two pearls alone can't do anything either, next to all the crap.

Arbeitsbedingungen

New office is fancy, but still having a proper work-life balance would be way better

Kommunikation

- top down communication and decision making
- conversations at eye level ? - almost non existing, you're just a number
- sexistic "funny" comments on management level are not uncommon

Gleichberechtigung

See communication

Interessante Aufgaben

indeed interesting, since the field they are working in is - not a achievment of the company tho

Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to leave your thoughts about being part of our den. At Bitpanda, we really appreciate all the hard work and effort that all our Pandas put in to help us turn the world of investing upside down. We know working in one of the fastest-changing and demanding sectors means this is not your typical corporate 9-to-5 — and we'll always be radically honest about this. Last week's Recharge break is not our only way of giving our folks the chance to reset and get ready for the next challenges ahead. With our revolutionary flexibility-first approach to working, we're making sure that everyone here has the ability to truly find a perfectly matched work-life balance and that time can be taken to recharge whenever it's needed.

We believe in clear, direct and transparent communication and feedback. This is why we've recently asked all Pandas across our dens to provide their "radically candid" and open feedback in our anonymous Bitpanda Employee voice survey to help us make sure that we're all on the same page and able to keep running at 200 miles an hour.

There is absolutely no room for any sexist or discriminatory comments from anyone at Bitpanda. Any comments like this are completely unacceptable and 100% not in line with our DNA. We sincerely apologise if you've ever encountered them. If you feel comfortable sharing any instances where this has occurred, please don't hesitate to reach out to our People team at peopleteam@bitpanda.com so that we can tackle this and make sure that they don’t ever reoccur.

Wir setzen auf Transparenz
