Free lunch
Overtime, micromanagement, stressful atmosphere, layoffs and in general the pressure. We can't even get a coffee peacefully because there is a camera in the lunch area and a screen counting how many people are drinking coffee at the moment
Identify what is urgent and what is not, if management has unrealistic expectations then middle management should speak up (nobody does because they know they will be fired, but that's also a suggestion to improve culture)
A lot of pressure from management, overtime, layoffs all the time, insane expectations (f.e. working weekends or nights for urgent things that are not urgent)and micromanagement means people are always stressed, scared or making sarcastic or toxic jokes over lunch. This has gotten worse lately with market pressure
Mixed. It's known as innovative company but almost everyone in Vienna still remember the mass layoffs years ago
You're expected to work overtime, and to be reachable anytime even in weekends due to unrealistic deadlines and constant "urgent topics". Now that I'm going to interviews I have realized that this is not normal!
Good salary and free lunch, but less and less benefits over the years
Nothing I'm aware of except Bottle Deposit collection
Many are good people but since layoffs are common, there are also colleagues that might see you as competition and therefore not so friendly or authentic. you can also not build friendships when everyone leaves so fast
No "older" people, all are 25-35
Micromanagement and unhealthy expectations (unrealistic deadlines, overtime and weekend work)
Nice office
All on Slack. Except the bad news: you need to find that out from gossiping colleagues
Mostly men. Very few women at the company, even less in leadership roles, in the last years I have also seen almost no interest to change that. The positive is that there are many international colleagues (except in management)
- die Atmosphäre
- den Drive
- Das was man als Arbeitnehmer bekommt (Ausstattung etc.)
- mir fällt wirklich nichts ein
Gute Leistungen, spannendes Umfeld, viele Möglichkeiten.
Verhalten von Vorgesetzten.
Mehr Feedback Gespräche und bessere Kommunikation.
Faire Bezahlung und Leistungen.
Junges Team und gute Stimmung im Büro.
Viele junge Vorgesetzte mit wenig Erfahrung.
Benefits werden laufend gestrichen bzw "optimiert"
If you want to work on web3 products that matter this is the best place that i know of.
Not good for chilling out. You will find excellent engineers that are pushing the envelope. This is not the right place for everyone.
Vienna office is cool
A problem of many crypto Industry players - too much association with gambling
Its a high performance environment. Many colleagues put in more than average hours because they want to, but in the end performance matters and not weekly hours.
No better place to learn web3 engineering for scale
Improved every year and is stellar now
Vienna office is insanely nice
Very good in my immediate environment
Salary ranges on par with Austrias top employers
Best place to work on mass web3 adoption in Europe
C-levels are smart guys. Modern industry, care for employees, great office infrastructure, great partnerships (Bayern Munich, AC Milan, NFL league, tennis and rugby stars). Free lunches, free snacks, free sodas and juices in fridges. Stock options plans.
Place for improvement: the need for efficient, effective and energized Product managers / Project managers is still there. There are several talented Products and Project managers - but the for the company of this size - still should be more. And they should be experienced superstars and doers who deliver.
Lets please be very careful with hiring during potential hypergrowth periods. This could lead to wrong profiles onboarding.
Its dynamic, business and customer oriented. We are here to help the company achieve prosperity and have our share in this success ourselves. Those who think that they can parasite while showing fake work activity - usually do not last long in this company.
Professional experienced employees understand where the company goes, why they are here and what is expected from them. They admire the company. Often those employees have solid experience of working in IT-industry and FinTech, and they are mature and wise enough to compare experiences.
When it comes to low performers, parasite slackers, toxic personalities, lack of professional skills and knowledge -- those employee profiles often start badmouthing management and start calling the work environment "toxic" because its easier for them to justify their own laziness and failures to deliver in their own eyes.
Vacations can be taken any time. No pressure for extra hours (unless volunteer step in). There can be moments to solve the crisis incident and to urgently reply some critical message, but those events do not happen often and do not last more than 30-40 mins.
Company invests a lot in trainings and education. It provides every employee with a free access to Udemy Business accounts with thousands and thousands of training courses.
Bring value to the table and you will be rewarded. Fair market exchange relationship. Its Austria: salaries and benefits are so regulated in this country that its hard to drop the ball here.
Erasable Notepads, recycled pens, cozy location near the lake, surrounded by green lawns. Conveys environmental awareness vibe. The company also participates in charity projects.
Relationships among colleagues are healthy and open. There can be some exceptions, but overall it deserves 5 stars.
We have older colleagues. They look happy.
Managers lead by example. Communication is transparent, meetings are documented. Expectations and feedbacks are documented. We try to be as data-driven and as documented as possible. This provides an opportunity to stay calm, focused and fair. If there is an expectation violation - initial agreement and expectation log is reviewed.
Infrastructure in Vienna office is very good.
Regular Town Halls, recurring meetings and leadership updates help stay on top of the strategy, plans and latest updates.
Women holding C-levels position, women among VPs, women among managers, women among leads, women among experts. I haven't observed any disadvantaged returns, its the opposite. I think Bitpanda sometimes is even too mindful.
Bitpanda is one Huge Interesting Task. Everyone can show leadership potential, come up with initiative and participate in execution, deliver, celebrate achievement. Then repeat the cycle.
Free lunches, if you remember to sign up, and if there’s no glass, metal or plastic in your plate that day
Arbitrary hiring/firing, promoting people based on sympathy rather than skills, not recognizing the problems highlighted by the worker’s council over and over again (even causing some members to leave the company), no dogs allowed unless you’re the boss
Work on your reputation by checking why the call keeps coming from inside the house. Live by your own five rules and standards, as well, instead of using them as excuses for firing competent people and never doing anything about fixing the rot that is coming from the head of the fish…
Colleagues are great, but it is really hard when everything you say can and will be used against you. Weird decisions when it comes to hiring/firing, it all seems very volatile and arbitrary. That makes it hard to feel “safe” or particularly comfortable at work, since you are always walking on eggshells!
I keep being asked why I work at a place with such a toxic reputation. Fintech in Austria is a mess, but even so, bitpanda has a terrible reputation
40h work weeks should be illegal in Austria, where it’s always 38,5h. The company swears it has only two office days a week, but your manager will bully you if you don’t come in at least four days a week.
The company barely has budgets for the AI licenses that should replace half the team soon
No budget for raises or even to justify keeping important teams, but we’re hiring and firing and spending on marketing and cooperations like it’s a bull run and we have unlimited funds
All according to the standards in Vienna
Obviously there are some exemptions, but after over a year at bitpanda, I don’t even trust my own shadow. It feels like most people are just waiting to throw you under the bus, and even your “friends” will turn on you if the wind shifts the wrong way that day…
There are none
They fired the only competent people manager in operations a few months ago. It’s been going downhill for a long while now though.
Choice of Mac/Windows, budget for home office stuff
So many weird decisions when it comes to promotions, hiring, firing, budget allocation…. I feel like high-level, the communication is good, but as soon as you break it down to a more granular level, you find a bunch of managers running around like chickens with their heads cut off seemingly doing what they want and getting rid of whomever questions them or doesn’t “swear allegiance” to whomever is manager that month.
Can’t even have an LGBTQIA+ chapter or participate officially in Pride cause HR claims that “then all religions need to have equal representation”. As if sexuality is the same as a religion or a choice…
The strategy changes so often that it doesn’t matter what you’re working on, it’ll be irrelevant after three months.
Sehr starke Freunderlwirtschaft
Office is amazing, work-life balance and perks are really great. I like stock option program and being part of the big schema.
I dont have anything that comes to my mind
I don't see much topics to improve. Maybe more social events and parties can be organised as before.
Absolutely amazing. There is no better place in Vienna to work
Even though low-performers are trying to damage the image, it is still one of the handful tech companies in Austria that you are feeling safe and appreciated
That's ideal. Often low-performers and irresponsible colleagues (ex or current) finds this negative but I think the opposite. People complain just because they had to answer a few slack message at 5-6pm but nobody appreciate the flexibility to work from home and starting to the day at 10-11am.
It is quite flexible and supportive. As long as you want to grow, it is possible and you always get support.
Salaries are above the job market. Growth potential is high and you always feel that your contributions are appreciated. So far, I always received satisfactory raises without doing any drama. That's one of the best part of the company. You really receive what you deserve.
I really liked that nobody uses Business Card here! That's an old technology and really grateful about digitalisation.
Especially in the last 1-2 years, there is really an amazing recruiting process followed. That ensures to bring only high-performers to the family. Really happy about the collegues and learning a lot from them as well.
Bitpanda is the place you can find people from any age. Everyone are respectful for older or younger colleagues. That mix makes it a perfect place for everyone.
My managers are amazing. They are always reachable and supportive. So far no complains. They also support your growth and mentors you. I had couple of manager changes, they were all great people
As I shared above, it is very calm and stress free. I dont know other tech hubs but at least Vienna HQ is absolutely amazing.
Regular townhalls and C-level meetings are the key to have clear understanding about the vision of senior management.
Company is full of super open-minded people. Also diversity is everywhere. Women in tech and People of Color are highly welcomed.
Bitpanda is a perfect place to grow and develop skills to do lateral moves. Technically extremely challenging and interesting topics are what you deal. This is a perfect place for an engineer if they really want to grow professionally
So verdient kununu Geld.
