It was not that bad of a working environment as my colleagues at the reception were my age, some older, some younger. My only issue was my boss, not the big boss of the hotel but the one at the reception. I don't like bullying as a concept, which seemed to be her biggest talent.
That woman gets off on bullying young girls who are scared to speak back in fear of getting in trouble for speaking up for themselves. There were times where I was scared to go into work because she had not been in for a few days due to sickness. I wasn't scared because I had done something wrong, I was scared because I knew what she was like when she got mad and she wasn't there for a couple of days so she would've had to get mad at someone and who better to get mad at than your least liked employee. I honestly think that is sad because I wouldn't wish that feeling of fear and anxiety to anyone.

The big bosses were good in communicating with us, as well as the other parts of the hotel such as the bars, the kitchen, the housekeeping, it all went with no issues and almost everyone got along. The boss at the reception has not figured out how teaching a jobs skills works. I got screamed at and humiliated (in front of guests, mind you) due to being unable to perform a skill that was strictly forbidden to us in the beginning and later on never taught to us new receptionists. I am not going to say she never taught us anything, she did, but we (mainly me because she had a favourite receptionist who could do no wrong) also did get blamed for stuff we were never taught.

The boss at the receptionist does not count towards a colleague star rating.
My colleagues were mostly nice and okay at the reception, I made lots of friends and still have contact to some people from the hotel.

This is a good job for when you have nothing to do in your life and want to make some money while drinking multiple times a week after or before work.

She also would not do her job properly, there were multiple days in a row where she would be sitting in her back office on Instagram not doing any work or helping us out at the reception. I was alone at the front on time and there were three separate groups of 3-6 people waiting to ask me something or check in or check out, and it was stressful. I did not think to go ask her for help because I was lowkey scared she would tell me to handle it myself. It took me a while and some sweating and stressing to figure it all out but I did. After the groups were gone I went to the back to drink some water where she looks at me and says you had it pretty stressful out there right now? I say yeah. She says I was thinking that I should go out there and help you but since you didnt 'ask' for my help I thought to myself okay then I wont. She said it in a tone that made me think this is not what a good boss would do or say right now and your help would have been very happily accepted but due to my growing fear of you I did not even think to ask for your help.

It was fun to deal with fun guests and actually somewhat fun to deal with the ones that complained about the craziest things.
