- Genuine open door policy - Diverse projects and tasks - Great location - Amazing people - Good social aspect - Work-life balance - Consideration and support in personal circumstances
- Strengthening cross-department cooperation, there is room for greater integration between the technical teams.
- Ensuring the commitment to everyone's personal development is upheld.
I joined GV at the time of rapid company growth, despite surpassing 50 FTE mark the management still knew everyone by name, You could chat with anyone, including the CEO, at the coffee machine and there was a genuine open door policy.
Beyond the usual day-to-day frustrations you find in every job, I believe there was a genuine sense of affection for the company among employees.
The rules around remote work and flexible working hours were more or less on par with what I experienced in other workplaces. I did not experience pressure to work outside of agreed times or take on extra tasks where my schedule was already full. The pace of work felt rather sustainable with occasional demanding periods around deadlines.
Requesting time off was never a problem and being able to bring my dog to the office really helped me balance work and personal commitments.
I learned a great deal at GeoVille and grew significantly in my role there. By the time I left the company for a position with greater responsibility, I felt confident and well prepared. Coming from academia, I particularly appreciated the variety of tasks and projects, which offered a welcome contrast to the narrower focus of academic research. I developed primarily through exposure to new software, technologies, data types, and data sources, as well as through knowledge sharing and learning from colleagues across the company.
That said, I attended only one conference during my almost three years with the company, and although personal development opportunities were sometimes discussed, they did not always materialize.
I found the initial salary offer below my expectations, but after negotiation we reached a figure I was satisfied with. A Freizeit-Ticket for employees would have been a very welcome addition, both in terms of compensation and in supporting work-life balance. Career level descriptions and salary bands were available internally, which I appreciated, although I found some of the information somewhat too open to interpretation.
Employees could choose each year between a public transport ticket and restaurant vouchers. In addition, frequent company events were organized by the amazing events team :)- including dinners, sports days, and even an overnight ski trip. Annual free FSME (TBE) and flu vaccination offered in house!
In terms of social awareness, I observed on several occasions — including in my own experience — that the company responded to personal circumstances with a level of support and care that went far beyond what it was obliged to provide. This human, familial side of the company is what earned my respect and loyalty.
Through my eyes the atmosphere among staff was great. Good team spirit, no finger pointing, taking collective ownership of tasks and celebrating successes together. Shared lunches during the week and ski tours on the weekends.
Frequent company event contributed to strengthening this culture.
At the same time, there was room to further strengthen familiarity and team spirit across departments.
As I am not an older employee myself, I can only speak to what I observed. The company had a reasonable diversity of ages overall. While the technical teams tended to be younger, which is not unusual in the sector, I also saw colleagues in their 50s being hired during my time there.
I had a very good working and personal relationships with all my superiors and the wider management. I did not experience or observe any questionable decision making or behavior. The level of transparency matched the level of what I wanted to know.
When I requested an adjustable desk after joining the company, it was provided without issue. Overall, the office equipment was adequate, and my office was clean, bright and with a mountain view! :)
My time at GeoVille coincided with a period of rapid company growth which gradually created some challenges in terms of office space. Management communicated regularly about the steps being taken or considered to address this, and several areas of the office space were rearranged to accommodate new colleagues. By the time I left, there was still adequate workspace for everyone.
Weekly stand-up meetings informing all staff about recent successes, results, key figures, goals, challenges. Good level of transparency around the company’s financial situation, market situation etc.
I recognize that my own privilege may mean I am not fully aware of some of the challenges others faced. With that said, I have not witnessed any discrimination against women and I appreciated seeing an increasing number of female colleagues in technical roles.
As with any job, you will enjoy some tasks more than others. What I appreciated was the variety of projects I worked on, which matched my interests, helped me grow professionally, and gave me the opportunity to collaborate with many colleagues across the company. This diversity also allowed me to travel and build relationships with external project partners.
junges Team, interessante Aufgaben, gutes Kollektiv
Überwiegende gute Atmosphäre, in stressigen Zeiten Anspannung bemerkbar
• Junges dynamisches Team.
• Sehr zentrale Lage in Innsburck.
Bottom up, keine strengen Hierarchien!
Employees are able to work fulltime from home. The technical equipping such as laptops/monitors have been provided to each employee on time.
With weekly and more often updates in form of emails about the work and company's situation, the employer keeps the team constantly informed, openly and honestly communicated. This keeps the motivation and team spirit very high, as well as the sense of security that one has a job and doesn't need to experience short-time work or even unemployment.
Apart from job security, the employer acts very level-headedly, supportive and understandingly for the interests of the employees.
The employer is also learning from the crisis about the benefits of the current digital transformation. The IT services, networks, process management, and technical support are acting very quickly, organized and are always eager to help.
The internal communication within the team has been steadily maintained across different communication platforms either by calls, video conferences or messages.
Apart from becoming more digitalized, the Corona crisis has helped to put even more trust in the employee's work and shows greater social cohesion than they already are.
Nothing to complain
Friendly working atmosphere, family and dogs are welcome. Taking into account the well-being of the employees. Every member is very supportive, courteous, considerate and competent. This causes a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with the professional and attentive staff making everyone feel welcome.
Modern, future-oriented company. The company stands behind its commitment to operate with honesty and integrity. I can therefore warmly recommend GeoVille from my personal experience.
Except for the core hours during business days and some obligated meetings, there are increased opportunities for flexible time management.
Very well combinable with home office, holiday planning and family obligations.
Local products have been offered such as coffee or fruits, freely accessible to everybody. Waste separation has been emphasized.
Starting to work as a freelancer and doing a very engaged job, is a useful stepping stone to higher-value activities through to permanent employment with an extended range of responsibilities.
Salary negotiations, career planning or any educational developments require initiative on the part of the employee and acceptance of the corresponding coaching responsibility (confidential mediator, manager). This will be respected and considered, leaving space for self-development, providing additional opportunities for personal growth and mutual recognition of the contribution of each of the employees.
A young team that stands up for each other and does many activities also during leisure. The strong team spirit at GeoVille is compared to other companies very unique and makes this work extraordinarily pleasant. Company trips, other celebrations and joint coffee or lunch breaks are repeatedly on the agenda, contributing to a constant exchange, trusting cooperation, identification with the company and improved motivation.
Everyone pulls together to ensure quality.
The communication is professional, supportive and goal-oriented.
Each employee has a trustworthy person/confidential mediator at the workplace to whom they can turn if there are any concerns, personal wishes, recommendations or any other issues. The opinion of the employees will be taken into account for the upcoming comprehensible decision-making processes. The informal and transparent communication enables trust, equality and leads to a more efficient collaboration between people no matter what position they belong to.
The office is located right in the middle of the city Innsbruck, with a nice view of the surrounding mountains. The location is very well accessible with public transportations, as well as by bike. The city center offers tons of different lunch options.
The office space is newly designed and consists primarily of open-plan offices with about 2 to a maximum of six people working in. The place is extended over two floors, offering meeting rooms, places of retreat, a cozy lunch corner and a kitchen.
It is still improving. Regular exchanges/updates in weekly meetings, involving the entire team.
Feedback-friendly culture, comprehensible decisions, organized with clear development steps.
What counts are team spirit, competence and results no gender.
Because of the companies wide field of work, there are constantly new projects/themes with reality and praxis-oriented subjects, many interesting/exciting tasks and personal development opportunities. Own empirical experience and interests will be considered, finding the suitable area of responsibility and trying to balance the workload for each team member from the very beginning. Close to deadlines, the workload could increase but it is relatively even dispersed over the project period. A certain amount of independent work is required. Ideas or suggestions for improvement are gladly accepted.
Conferences and business trips enable direct contact to partners, international exchange and appears to be a welcome change from the general desk work.
Insgesamt ganz okay.
So verdient kununu Geld.
