Internationale Reputation, aber schwierige Führungserfahrung

I have been working professionally for around 15 years in international and multicultural environments, and my experience at IIASA was by far the most difficult professional experience I have had so far.
The main reason was my direct supervisor. I experienced the management style as emotionally distressing, highly unprofessional, and at times lacking in professional maturity. Communication was often driven by emotions rather than constructive and professional discussion. I also experienced behavior that I found inappropriate for a professional research environment.
What made the situation particularly difficult was the contrast between the organization's international reputation and my actual experience within the team. I expected a collaborative, respectful, and scientifically professional working environment, but instead I experienced a management relationship that was emotionally exhausting and difficult to navigate.
I believe that even in stressful situations, supervisors should communicate respectfully, provide clear expectations, give constructive feedback, and separate personal emotions from professional decisions. Unfortunately, this was not my experience.
Gleichberechtigung
After 15 years of professional experience internationally, including working in multicultural teams, I can say that this was the first workplace where I experienced this kind of management behavior. The experience has made me much more careful about evaluating not only the reputation of an institution, but also its leadership culture and the quality of direct management.
