Senior Group Director of Safety Development & Processes (SDP)
The Senior Group Director of Safety Development & Processes (SDP) provides strategic leadership and oversight for a global team focused on safety development, innovation, and process design within Roche's Global Product Development Safety & Risk Management (PDS) department. The role involves leading the global SDP function across four international sites, ensuring safety-critical processes are designed and maintained in compliance with GVP, GCP, and Medical Device standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide line-leadership for the global SDP sub-function, coaching team members to maximize potential and well-being.
- Define and articulate the vision and strategy for SDP in alignment with broader enterprise goals.
- Oversee the design, development, and continuous improvement of safety processes and scientific ways of working.
- Partner with R&D stakeholders to anticipate business needs and drive effective scientific decision-making.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, and resource deployment across multiple global locations.
- Represent PDS/PVSD on compliance governance bodies and contribute to budget management and scenario planning.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in a relevant discipline or qualified health professional (MD, PharmD, etc.).
- 10+ years of experience in patient safety or pharmacovigilance within the biopharmaceutical industry or a regulatory authority.
- Proven ability to lead global line or matrix teams.
- Significant experience in clinical development, process management, and strategic business analysis.
- Strong analytical thinking skills for designing complex, cross-functional processes and metrics.
- Highly developed communication and influencing skills to build global collaborations.
- Post-graduate qualifications in PV, business improvement, or innovation (e.g., MBA, Lean Sigma) are desirable.
