Principal DevOps Engineer (DevOps Lead)
The Principal DevOps Engineer is a hands-on leadership role responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex, enterprise-scale software systems at Roche. This position focuses on technical excellence, software scalability, and fostering a culture of DevSecOps within the engineering community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality, scalable, and extensible software.
- Integrate software stacks with CI pipelines and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, promoting a culture of support and compassion.
- Evangelize healthy DevSecOps practices across the Roche Engineering Community.
- Drive the internal technical backlog to enhance deployment, monitoring, and system maintenance.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in public cloud (AWS preferred) with at least 5 years in the software industry.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Shell.
- Proven experience leading DevOps teams and building mature CI/CD pipelines.
- Expertise in DevSecOps, including build/release, internal tooling, and production operations.
- Hands-on system administration experience with Unix-based systems, networking, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, AWS Cloudformation).
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on long-term business impact and disruptive thinking.
