The HR function exists in name only and serves largely to enforce the leadership's will, rather than advocate for employees. sad.

the root cause of the toxicity lies in the leadership. there is excessive control exercises from the highest rank of the leadership, who constantly undermine employees ability to perform the roles they were hired for. there is little to no autonomy, and the envirorment is drive by fear rather than trust or empowerment. the leadership is been influenced by prolonged exposure to rigid Japanese coporate culture, attempts to replicate those extreme work practices in a European context, creating an unhealthy and exploitative envirorment. the workplace has mainly japanese nationals and immigrant workers who often accepts these condition due to limited job opportunities in Austria without fluent German language skill. as a result very few locals accept this condition and the workforce largely consist of individual who feel they have no alternative. the dynamic make the culture even more vulnerable to exploitation.
