Open and honest communication
Management and team leaders are very professional, solution-oriented, and friendly
Interesting tasks that never get boring, even after many years
Good work-life balance for families
Salary adjustments in line with collective bargaining agreements (at least for the collectively agreed portion)
Structured career paths
There is great respect at all levels. Management is very professional. Problems are solved successfully without blaming anyone. A lot has changed for the better.
Above average. The only downside is that inflation adjustments—at least partially—are not covered by collective bargaining and must be negotiated individually.
Part of the new office is already open. It is a great workplace with a rooftop terrace and a café for employees.
Working together, not against each other.
Angenehm
Erreichbarkeit, Gehalt, Kollegen
All-In-Verträge, Dauer-Chaos, lange Entscheidungswege
bessere Arbeitsverträge, nachvollziehbares Management, Wertschätzung der MA
Kommunalkredit’s relatively small company size creates an environment where new team members can take on meaningful responsibilities from day one. The lean structure allows for close collaboration across teams and provides excellent opportunities to learn quickly by working on a wide variety of interesting and impactful tasks. This hands-on experience makes it an especially valuable place for professionals who are eager to develop their skills and gain broad exposure early in their careers.
Internal communication can improve. Otherwise it’s like any job: it’s what you make of it. Here you have the chance to make an impact.
Improve internal communication, systems and rebrand.
Open, challenging and proactive
In Austria not the best image but that’s due to certain things from the past which no longer hold true
Very good. Perfect for someone with a family
Small size of company doesn’t offer as many chances for moving up as elsewhere
Fair and even above market compensation
Sustainably focused
Most colleagues are very helpful and curious.
Leading by example
Head office currently being renovated
Internal communication can be improved although mostly good communication between different stakeholders
In my case very interesting. Learning continues on a daily basis
Weiterer/stärkerer Fokus in Verbesserung/Modernisierung veralteter Prozesse und IT Systeme. Prozesse teils stark manuell und im Vergleich zu anderen Unternehmen nicht mehr state of the art.
Overall gute Arbeitsatmosphäre
Branchenüblich
Zusammenhalt v.a. im Team sehr gut.
IT & Prozesse teils veraltet.

Funktioniert hervorragend. Hier zählt was man/frau drauf hat.
Ständig.
First, the bank's portfolio is aligned with the energy transition and does not engage in problematic activities such as carbon-intensive projects, consumer lending or ethically questionable transations. Second, working alongside colleagues of many different nationalities gives a real sense of being part of a European project.
I also have high hopes for the new CEO. He combines extensive banking experience with direct communication, avoiding the empty corporate jargon so often encountered in corporate meetings.
Finally, the elegant building in which the bank is housed in Vienna's 9th district.
One area that could be strengthened concerns internal development and career progression within the bank. At present, the annual review process mainly takes place with one’s direct manager. It can also create a situation where the evaluation depends largely on a single perspective. In organisations where I have worked previously, the process included two discussions: one with the direct manager and another with the next level of management. This structure tended to encourage greater transparency and accountability, as managers knew that perspectives would be shared and discussed more broadly. Introducing a similar approach could help reinforce team spirit and make it easier for the organisation to identify and support talent wherever it is located within the bank.
We are fortunate to work in a beautiful old building in the 1090 district. Renovation work is currently underway, so it's a bit noisy at the moment, but it's for a good cause. The building has a brand new cafeteria where you can come for a coffee, lunch or an informal meeting.
Achieving a work–life balance can be challenging. Having children naturally makes any job more demanding. However, at Kommunalkredit and across Austria more broadly, there is a high level of flexibility. The organisation generally provides the necessary space to balance professional and personal commitments. Options such as working from home and part-time arrangements make it easier for employees to organise their schedules according to their personal circumstances.
Although there is more solidarity between colleagues, a stronger recognition of the productive interdependence between revenue-generating and non-revenue-generating departments would likely further strengthen collaboration and the overall team spirit.
Kommunalkredit has a project portfolio that is largely aligned with the energy transition. The bank has developed strong expertise in structuring complex infrastructure and energy deals, and in several areas it is able to structure transactions that only a limited number of banks are able to execute. In that sense, the bank can be seen as having a positive impact at a global level, and it gives a clear sense that one’s efforts are directed toward activities with tangible value.
While not ideal, the environment offers insight into outdated systems and inefficient structures --> a useful contrast for future, more modern roles.
From the very beginning, it was clear to me that this is not a place to stay in the long run. The best approach is to gain some experience and move on as soon as possible.
From a qualitative work perspective, the environment can be described in one word: horrible. Outdated systems, overpaid employees in questionable positions, and an overall toxic culture make it difficult to grow or work efficiently.
The only real positive aspect is the team, which manages to stick together through both good and challenging times despite the circumstances.
My advice to anyone who wants to truly achieve something in their career: use this as a stepping stone — and then run.
Significant improvements are needed in system modernization, leadership quality and transparency to reduce toxicity and inefficiency.
So verdient kununu Geld.
