Was soll das Unternehmen besser machen?
The early stages of the process felt positive overall. The initial HR conversation was warm and engaging, which genuinely sparked my interest in the role. The hiring manager call was pleasant too, though 15 minutes is simply not enough time to both introduce yourself and have a meaningful conversation about the role and company. I was glad we ended up going a little over but still.
One consistent issue throughout was the pace. With multiple steps and sometimes over a week between responses or next appointments, the overall process stretched to well over a month.
The most frustrating part, however, was the case study. I found the topic genuinely interesting and put real effort into it, over 20 hours of work. What disappointed me was the feeling that the substance of my work wasn't really engaged with. The follow-up questions felt generic, as if they could have been asked of any candidate regardless of what they submitted. My actual analysis wasn't challenged or explored, which (given the time investment) felt like the bare minimum I would have expected.
The atmosphere in the presentation session was cold, and it ended earlier than anticipated. Two days later I received a rejection, which stung more given the effort involved and the tone of that meeting.
To add to the confusion, the feedback for my rejection call was overwhelmingly positive making the rejection difficult to understand.
I interviewed for Product Manager and completed a detailed case study as part of the process. The initial stages were smooth and communication was clear.
However, the final interview experience was disappointing. Despite preparing a comprehensive case study, the panel showed very low engagement during the discussion. One-hour session ended in 30 mins, only 3 questions were asked, and at least one question repeated something already covered in the presentation, suggesting the case study had not been fully reviewed in advance.
The overall energy during the interview was quite low, which made the interaction feel one-sided and less engaging. It became challenging to maintain momentum and present at my best throughout the discussion.
This made it difficult to properly demonstrate my thinking and felt like the evaluation was not as thorough as it could have been.
I would suggest improving interviewer preparation and making the final round more interactive, so candidates have a fair opportunity to present and discuss their work. It was a pure waste of time!
Case study macht keinen Sinn.
