From Best to Disappointing

This was once one of the best companies to work for. Unfortunately, many of the people who made it such a great place to work have since been laid off. Additionally, the internal power struggles driven by one individual are noticeably affecting the working environment. It is a real shame to see such a once-positive culture deteriorate.
Work-Life-Balance
Work-life balance varies depending on the department, although you can usually contribute a lot yourself to making it work well.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
Before the recession, training opportunities were definitely available. You had to proactively search for the courses you wanted and ask for them, which I consider perfectly reasonable. In the current economic climate, however, career opportunities seem to be largely limited to senior management.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
Team spirit is generally very good, but it depends heavily on the position and, in particular, on your direct colleagues — especially if you happen to work with the manipulative person.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
Management behavior varies significantly by department, ranging from excellent to unfortunately very poor.
Fully agree with the last comment on Kununu:
"Senior management is completely out of line, walking around bad mouthing colleagues returning from parental. Bad communication skills and conflicting stories during meetings."
I would like to add that there were several instances of inappropriate comments and negative treatment towards employees working part-time due to parental leave during official company-wide meetings.

Communication is very good in some departments, while unfortunately being poor in others.
