Gut am Arbeitgeber finde ich

For people starting their career:
- as soon as they quit, they will have a lot of knowledge about how to NOT do things

An old colleague of mine once said:
"if anybody at my new company complains about working conditions,
then I teach him about a company called medphoton"

So learning by counterexample might be a good argument for medphoton

Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich

The lowest priority is a working product, the highest priority is having a lot of artificial stress and people to blame for intentionally self produced problems.

Ignoring reasonable objections from employees, years before the problems occur, and then searching for quick solutions once the problems occur,
then waiting until the next problems re-occur, without fixing the underlying problems.

Even if problems would have working solutions, a downgrade is preferred that leads sooner or later to problems at the customer.

On one side there is a complicated release process for the audit, on the other side quick solutions get send out without any release process.

Design is based on:
- Rookie mistakes
- Open control loops
- technical conspiracy theories
- dis-proven technical conspiracy theories

All of these things might be funny if it happened only once, instead of being considered an innovative new approach to be proud of.

Verbesserungsvorschläge

There is a little video of OceanGate, the imploded submarine company, on the internet.
Where the company makes fun of all the safety measures.

Maybe medphoton should also make a few short clips for their innovative worst practice development process.

Kommunikation

Employees try to tell the upper management for weeks about problems both in German and English.
The upper management ignores the problem, and says that they understand the risk perfectly ....

When the problem then happens some time later:
The upper management tell the employ about what a severe bug the problem is.

The employs tell the upper management that it was no bug but some explicitly demanded feature.

Then the upper management tells the employs, about some quick innovative solutions that have to be send out immediately by nightfall to the customer.

And then, to also add some other new innovative features, when releasing the feature-fix on midnight.

Maybe some acts of innovative design are done on purpose.

But maybe everything is really a big misunderstanding as so often claimed by the upper management:

in that case I would recommend some German and English courses for the upper management.
A level of A2 would bring the company significantly forward.
Understanding employee phrases like:
"if we do this we get this problem"
would prevent upper management questions like:
"why does our software have this problem"

Interessante Aufgaben

Some thing would be interesting,
but once the upper management has designed something, there is simply no way back to a working solution, but only innovative workarounds to keep the non-working solution somehow working.

Gleichberechtigung

From myside, I cannot confirm any complaints about sexism or racism. Females, and foreigners from different continents, are in leading positions.
Unfortunately this is one of the only good things.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

Mostly people starting their career are working at medphoton. Almost nobody with prior experience would stay anyway.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Austria is a nice country, Salzburg is a nice city.

Some charity runs are done each year.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Salaries are definitely too low.
If the upper management would have to pay a higher price for all the workarounds overtime, they might think twice about innovative worst practice solutions.

medphoton is well known in all of Salzburg, and therefore almost no engineers from Salzburg are working there.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

At least one learns by counter example.
Many thing that happen at medphoton also happen partially to a much minor degree at other companies.

Therefore learning fromm extreme counter examples is a special kind of lifetime experience.

This is no joke.
