(1) Do not hire interns if you don't acknowledge their existence afterwards
(2) Set up an onboarding period with a designated supervisor
(3) Don't be misogynistic
(4) Make interns learn things and include them in your daily communications; they are interns, not spies
(5) Don't be racist
Arbeitsatmosphäre
Garbage partly thanks to COVID, but also because of colleagues who literally work in their silos and don't care about onboarding newcomers. Slight racism noted as well, beyond of course the very well known attitude of most Austrians vis-à-vis foreigners.
Kommunikation
Silo-type communication. Tons of ghosting from superiors, literally 0 communication in there.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
None whatsoever, was not even included in any meeting to figure out what was happening in the department.
Work-Life-Balance
Oh that one is great, I was more bored than during my military service (hamevin yavin)! I had approximately 1 month worth of work in about 6 months. I once went through A WHOLE WEEK without anyone noticing I was not there. Great if you need time to play videogames, learn a new language, plan the next 10 years ahead, apply for jobs, swipe through Tinder, you name it!
Vorgesetztenverhalten
The team just ignores me when I ask for tasks or feedback or literally anything... Even dragged their feet to get me IT equipment... to work from home... during a pandemic... My friends and I created a nice game entitled "Will a meeting be canceled again?" where we would finish a bottle of wine every time it happens, and we drank a lot!
Interessante Aufgaben
To give an example, I was tasked to prepare a presentation regarding a company offering a nice product; I put in genuine effort to deliver and on the D-Day to present my findings, the colleague literally told me to bring a charger for their laptop and that's it... nothing about the presentation at all... that's the kind of rewarding tasks you get!
Arbeitsbedingungen
Great coffee on the floor and nice cafeteria, and as I said the hours are golden if you are very lazy and like coasting on the clock.
Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein
It's now an oil, gas and plastics company so they obviously put an emphasis on bringing in half a ton of plastic bottles to the floor every morning. No sorting of garbage whatsoever.

OMV benefits from a good reputation in Austria although oil&gas on a CV generates the same reaction as a swastika literally anywhere else in the Western World...
Karriere/Weiterbildung
No advancement for youngsters hence the median age of 48 on all floors. No wonder all young folks leave after a year or two (heard from multiple colleagues).
