Lots of space for improvement - communication is key
Schlecht am Arbeitgeber finde ich
edit: upper management flat out lying to the employees about the "positive" feedback they received on the new home office policy and generally not caring about how their decision impacted so many of their employees
Verbesserungsvorschläge
Benefits should be much more extensive than they are. We have a lot of events for employees but no annual pass for Wiener Linien, which is now offered by almost every employer. The only benefit right now, with the new home office policy taking away flexibility, is the fruit and snacks.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
The atmosphere in the office is greatly reduced due to the stress of year's end and the announcement of the new home office policy where everyone has to come in 4 days a week; the announcement was handled poorly and delivered right before the holidays, which ruined the mood even more. Normally, the atmosphere is quite calm and there's chatter and laughter but lately it's just somber and a little depressing. Also, there are always issues with the heating so we're all freezing constantly.
Work-Life-Balance
I know some of my colleagues are expected to work all hours and there is micromanagement in some of the teams which of course impacts people's work-life balance; they worry constantly about work and feel anxious coming in to the office.
Karriere/Weiterbildung
Some colleagues left waiting on a development plans, others who get development plans say they are too long (6 months-1 year); there is some room for development in a role but not much. The company pays for different courses for personal development but the employee has to request them. German courses are offered for those who relocate to Vienna.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
In my experience, the teamwork at the company is really good, almost everyone gets along well. Overall I like everyone at PlanRadar and we get along really well in my team. Also, team events with a 40€ budget are appreciated, but should be done during work hours (e.g. during the lunch break).
Vorgesetztenverhalten
I've had luck with my direct lead, but not everyone has such luck. There are double standards for some employees who are friends with leads/managers and they get preferential treatment. Lots of teams are micromanaged and not given space to work independently, also there are issues with understaffing of some teams; lots of small things don't get done because teams are overwhelmed with high-priority tasks.
Arbeitsbedingungen
The heating issues, constant construction noise and there is no plan on when or how these will be resolved. It's annoying having to sit in an office for 8 hours a day and not have heating or peace and quiet to work.
Kommunikation
Communication from the top is very unclear and there is no set strategy to communicate from top to bottom, although the company is said to have flat hierarchies there is still the middle management that has to break unfavorable news to their teams and you can tell they are ill-prepared and uninformed about major changes that will affect their teams.
Gleichberechtigung
As mentioned, there is preferential treatment for some people who are friends with management.
Interessante Aufgaben
There's always new and interesting tasks/challenges to get through, which I enjoy.
