Accountability is routinely dodged here — despite it being your core responsibility.
In any workplace, accusations—whether about performance, behavior, or "cultural fit"—should never be treated as one-sided verdicts.
While I entered the role with optimism, my time there revealed a culture of incompetence, ego-driven leadership, and systemic resistance to progress.
It's ok
The facade of collaboration crumbled quickly. A colleague, threatened by my experience with the tech stack, scheduled an 8 AM meeting to “educate” me on tools I’d mastered years prior. When I requested a reasonable adjustment to 10 AM—a minor courtesy—they escalated the issue to management, framing it as insubordination. This petty retaliation exposed the team’s insecurity and hostility toward anyone perceived as a threat.
The department head, treated automation as a buzzword rather than a technical discipline. Their contributions during meetings began and ended with reciting “automation and observability” like a mantra, offering no strategic direction. Meanwhile, my suggestions for infrastructure optimization—rooted in 8+ (in ansible automation) years of experience —were ignored or rejected outright. Later, I discovered the team had spent over a year struggling to implement the very ideas I proposed, only to have leadership repackage them as their own “innovations” once I demonstrated their feasibility.
Worse, when I successfully automated machine deployment ahead of schedule (a task the team had failed to complete for a year), the tech lead accused me of “not following ticketing procedures” and overstepping by showing initiative. My pushback—including questioning his Ansible expertise—triggered such defensiveness that it culminated in my abrupt dismissal.
People are good, office is warm, life work balance is good
Communication in company is a biggest flow for me, firing people and not providing any safe environment for discussions, feedback is only once sided and useless roles of line manager where all decisions are made in another country
I would like for us to get some benefit related to Fitness, since I know that many other companies in Vienna offer it.
Also, it is allowed to work remotely (from other country) 10 days per year which I would like to be more and there is a certain rule when you can take them and when not plus submitting and getting the approval is a whole process. I wish that coud be easier.
Also company team-buildings are non existant (or at least I haven´t seen them since starting the job)
I really enjoy office days, people are honestly amazing and very helpful with both tehnical and personal stuff
They encourage conferences/workshops but you need to propose/organize
I am one of the younger ones, and I get really well with everyone not depending on age
50%/50% home office + in my case my manager allows flexibility and will always help in making some adjustments in schedule if it is necessary
Not great not terrible
Company encourages diversity of employees with organizing and following multiple events
I think we get offered a lot and are supported very well.
We work in a very trusted and relaxed environment here.
We are kind of niche. But no one gas and power trading in Europe does not know who Trayport is ;)
HomeOffice/Office is 50/50, which is a pretty good rate. In our are of business you usually get 40/60 or less.
Across Trayport and TMX there are a lot of opportunities for development. It requires some effort from employess as well though (which, I think, is fair), incl. the willingness to change location.
I am paid above average.
This year, TMX made an effort to track CO2 emissions caused by employees on their journey to/from work. So they are taken into consideration as well, when calculating the carbon footprint and introducing measures to counteract it.
The colleagues and teams here in Vienna are simply amazing! I have worked in a couple of compniaes already. But the chemistry here is unmatched!
Interaction between colleagues is always very respectful, regardless of age.
My direct line manager is very supportive, has my back and helps me to improve my skills.
Fairly new, nice office, relatively central. Good equipment.
Sometimes comms between locations could work a bit better.
Trayport is a very inclusive work space.
The job and the business we run is definitely challenging. It never gets boring around here ;)
Pretty good WLB and paid lunch break
Quite an interesting field with challenging tasks
nette Leute
100% Homeoffice
oder:
subventioniertes Parken, Tagestarif
Team spirit and great colleagues
No micro management
Some degree of freedom as long as the day-to-day work gets done
Deficiencies in project planning and management
Ad hoc decisions and changes, that are not comprehensible and are not explained to the employees
Dated tech stack, lots of tech debt, dubios code quality
High employee fluctuation, lack of knowledge of the code base
Very hard to get external trainings and going to conferences
Very hard to get raises/promotions
Alles in einen ein sehr gute Atmosphäre
Alle Kollegen sind nett und sehr zuvorkommend
gute Kommunikation
Paid lunch break
So verdient kununu Geld.
