Working atmosphere ★★★★★
For me, Visplore was never just an employer.
The atmosphere is shaped by exceptionally smart, committed and at the same time genuinely kind people. Of course, as in probably every fast-growing company, there are different opinions, intense discussions and sometimes a bit of chaos. But that is also part of what makes Visplore feel alive.
What I appreciated most was the respectful way people treat each other and the fact that so many colleagues are not only professionally excellent, but also simply great people to spend time with.
Team spirit ★★★★★
Clearly one of Visplore’s greatest strengths.
I have rarely worked at a company where so many highly skilled people support each other so naturally.
Over the years, colleagues became people who genuinely mattered to me personally.
Cooking together, sports events, team evenings, table football, conversations in the kitchen or after work, and of course our legendary jam sessions became just as much a part of Visplore for me as the actual work itself.
That may sound a little sentimental, but this sense of community is probably what I will miss most.
Interesting tasks ★★★★★
If you enjoy creating things and taking responsibility, there is an incredible amount of room to make an impact.
I had the opportunity to help build and shape the company’s internal IT almost from the ground up over several years, establish structures, try things out and push forward topics that I considered important.
What started as a fairly typical startup-style IT environment gradually developed into a much more professional, resilient and secure infrastructure.
Being able to take that much ownership and create visible, lasting improvements was extremely rewarding professionally.
Trust & autonomy ★★★★★
Probably one of the most important aspects for me personally.
I was given a great deal of freedom and trust to make decisions, take responsibility and drive topics forward independently.
If you expect detailed instructions for every step, that level of freedom may not suit everyone. But if you like taking ownership, bringing in your own ideas and actively shaping things, Visplore offers excellent conditions for doing so.
This freedom was one of the main reasons why I genuinely enjoyed my job here.
Management ★★★★★
I particularly appreciated the trust I was given when dealing with important topics and the freedom I had when implementing them.
Of course, there were also discussions and different opinions. In a technology-driven company with many strong personalities, that is completely normal.
What mattered to me was that I could openly express my opinion, challenge things and take real responsibility.
Working conditions ★★★★★
A very pleasant working environment, modern technologies and a lot of freedom in how you organize and shape your own area of responsibility.
I especially appreciated that technical work was not simply about maintaining what already existed. There was genuine room to improve, modernize and build new things.
Career & development ★★★★★
During my more than three years at Visplore, I was able to develop considerably both professionally and personally and gradually take on more responsibility.
People who show initiative and are willing to take ownership are given plenty of room to grow.
For my own career, these years were extremely valuable.
Work-life balance ★★★★★
I greatly appreciated the flexibility and mutual trust.
Naturally, there are periods with a higher workload, particularly in roles with significant technical responsibility. Overall, however, I never had the feeling that presence or working hours were valued more highly than results, responsibility and contribution.
Company image ★★★★★
Visplore works on technologically sophisticated products and, in my experience, has an unusually high concentration of extremely capable developers, engineers and specialists.
I sincerely hope the company continues successfully pursuing its vision, and I will definitely be watching its future development with interest from the sidelines.
Suggestions for improvement
As Visplore continues to grow, I would encourage management to delegate even more responsibility and place even greater trust in the people who have been given ownership of a topic.
One of the company’s greatest strengths is the high level of expertise within the team. Making full use of that expertise also means allowing people enough freedom to make decisions within their areas of responsibility without too much involvement in operational details.
Clear goals, responsibilities and expectations combined with trust and autonomy would, in my view, make the organization even more effective and allow management to focus more strongly on strategic topics.
The important part would be to preserve the accessibility and close connection between management and employees while gradually moving from direct involvement toward empowerment as the company grows.
Atmosphere: Open, informal and very human. People are approachable, discussions are direct, and there is generally a strong sense of being part of the same team.
Communication: Short communication paths make it easy to solve many things quickly.
Work Life Balance: Very good overall. I particularly appreciated the flexibility and the focus on getting things done rather than unnecessary formalities around when and where work happens.
Management behavior:
Management is very accessible and involved in the company. I appreciated being able to openly discuss different opinions and having the opportunity to take substantial responsibility in my area.
Interesting tasks:
Definitely a strength. There are many opportunities to solve complex problems, introduce new technologies and actively shape how things are done rather than simply maintaining existing structures.
Salary / benefits
Very fair and competitive in my experience, particularly considering the flexibility, level of autonomy and overall working environment.
Image
Visplore has a highly innovative and technically sophisticated product and employs an unusually strong group of specialists. From a technical perspective, it is a company one can genuinely be proud to work for.
Career / further education
People who demonstrate initiative can take on significant responsibility and develop quickly. My own role and responsibilities grew considerably during my time at Visplore.
Working conditions
Very good. Modern equipment, a pleasant office environment and a high degree of flexibility make it easy to work effectively.
Environmental / social awareness
There is awareness of sustainability and social responsibility e.g. old Laptops are donated after data is securely removed.
Equal opportunities
In my experience, people are primarily valued for their skills, contribution and personality. I never experienced gender as a factor in how colleagues were treated professionally.
Treatment of older colleagues
I experienced a respectful environment across different ages and levels of experience. Expertise and experience are generally appreciated regardless of age.
The only positive aspect I can identify and that kept me here - the project. The project is very interesting and there are plenty of things to learn and discover.
- I was fired during my medical leave, a few days after I had a surgery that my life depended upon. I cannot imagine something more shocking, horrible and inhumane than firing an employee during his medical leave, just after life threatening issues and during a treatment with heavy side effects.
- They paid me NO severance, although I worked very hard for them and after health issues they throw me away like a dog! Basically after I got sick they showed me the door. Exactly when I was most vulnerable.
- During my ~1 year employment, my working performance led to several salary increases. This means that I did a good job.
- Before being fired, no meeting was set in order to defend myself, being stripped from this right. In the termination letter it was mentioned that there were some meetings during which I was told about some aspects about a lack of communication, which was not true.
In the end, I can confess that I regret joining this company and I let the reader to conclude about the professionalism of this company and how it is run.
I hope nobody will go through what I had to endure here.
I want to point out that this situation is, shockingly, legal in Austria. In other countries such actions would have led to serious troubles for the company.
The team and the product
More benefits.
The office is nicely located in the heart of the 7th district, not far from the U3 station Zieglergasse, with many options for food and more.
However, the office itself could use a bit more natural light, or at least be furnished in a more welcoming way. For example, with more colour and fresher furniture. The cleaning intervals could also be increased, as it can get a bit messy at times, though not to an extent that personally bothered me.
Visplore is highly customer-oriented. Especially the customer success team puts in genuine effort to ensure customers derive real value, maintaining a strong pace in implementing requested features and addressing bugs by the Developers. However, the software itself could benefit from a broader UX/UI redesign. Regarding professionalism, I feel that improvements in meeting punctuality and avoiding interrupting colleagues during customer presentations would significantly strengthen the company's external image
There is a set core working hours policy of a few hours, though this can be adjusted by communicating with management. Beyond that, the work-life balance is great. You are trusted to manage your own time, and as long as you deliver good work, I think the flexibility is yours. Home office is also an option.
Within the Customer Success team, career progression was not clearly defined. More senior colleagues often held the same position, which made it difficult to envision a concrete path for growth. As a startup, opportunities are naturally somewhat limited in this regard.
Training and personal development opportunities were not proactively communicated, although I believe management would have been open to discussing them if raised.
Given the company’s reliance on external investment - especially in the current economic climate - job security can feel somewhat uncertain.
On the positive side, working in a startup environment provides the opportunity to shape processes and contribute ideas, as many structures are still being built.
As mentioned, colleagues are always willing to help and answer questions. Company events help strengthen the bond between team members outside of work, and I genuinely enjoyed spending time with everyone and the company events are great.
Generally, communication with management is open and constructive, though it can be quite direct at times. Another aspect I did not appreciate was management's tendency to micromanage unnecessary aspects of my work, which at times undermined my confidence in my own abilities. That said, management is receptive to feedback, and in my case this led to noticeable improvements. Some colleagues seemed to find the communication style more challenging. Personally, this was not the biggest issue for me.
As mentioned, the office could benefit from a bit more life, some small investments in furnishings and atmosphere could go a long way. It can get messy at times, though nothing extreme. The noise level is generally fine, however meeting rooms can be overbooked, and occasionally colleagues would occupy them despite an existing booking, sometimes causing to arrive late to customer meetings, which I found quite inappropriate. Providing employees with noise-cancelling headsets could help mitigate sound bleed from simultaneous meetings in the same room, especially given the overbooking issue.
Communication within the colleagues is excellent. Colleagues are always open to helping and answering questions whenever needed. When it comes to personal matters, superiors are approachable and willing to listen if you reach out, and the same goes for HR, who are genuinely open to feedback. However, management communication can come across as a little direct at times, which is likely a result of the fast paced startup environment.
For early-career engineers in this sector, the compensation was reasonable given that Vienna is not a high-salary region and the company is a startup. That said, depending on your background and experience, you will likely find more competitive packages at bigger companies. Management was open discussing salary increases but you won't be making banks here, especially considering how Vienna became quite expensive in the recent years. Given that it is a startup, offering stock options would have been a welcome addition. There were no formal additional benefits such as meal vouchers, a subsidized Wiener Linien ticket, or gym discounts. In my case, goals were set twice a year tied to a bonus scheme a nice addition when it comes through. However, the success of the targets were not always within one's own control, and given that any bonus will largely be absorbed by taxes, the net impact remains very modest. On a smaller note, 1-2 times a week colleagues would cook tasty dishes in the office with ingredients covered by the company, and there was also a weekly fruit basket and free Nespresso capsules coffee available. Also free beers and booze for the company events.
The company is very international, and despite being a software company, I had the impression it has a notably high proportion of female colleagues. While I cannot speak to whether pay is equal across the board, the overall culture felt modern and progressive in this regard.
I experienced a steep learning curve early on and learned a lot. However, the role's activities did not align closely with my long-term personal interests. A considerable amount of time was spent chasing customers due to micromanagement to generate value for them, rather than working on more substantial real-world challenges. This imbalance made it difficult to find deeper professional fulfillment in the role, especially as someone with an industrial and mechanical engineering background who is more drawn to hands-on work with customers. That said, some customer engagements did involve genuinely impactful use cases, which was personally rewarding. I believe Visplore is a great product, but the approach to generating value from its licensing could highly benefit from being reconsidered.
I am satisfied
no complains
communication can improve, but people are working on this
lots and lots of opportunity to learn and grow
Basically nothing.
Some people.
Get some people in place who know how to talk to employees and teammembers. Who can listen and do not shout at employees.
Working there feels like everybody is working on his own and not as a team. Especially in the sales team the team leader does not care at all.
Work life balance good tbh, although only 1 star because through that meetings always start late and thats no a professional company.
Money wise its good, I would say its a compensation for the pain you have to endure working there.
Absolute garbage, they dont care at all and behave pretty arrogant. Even shouting is part of their behaviour!
Office looks like a hole in the ground, dark and dirty. In the kitchen everything is dirty as hell. Even the CEO just places his used plate anywhere in the kitchen, as if somebody else would wash his dishes. Unprofessional and disgusting behaviour. On the middle desk where they take their lunch all kind of stuff is standing around and as well crumbles and food that fell of the employees plates. Yuck!
No communication inside of the sales team. When we had meetings with the CEO he did not listen at anything people said but wanted them to listen. Telling people „this is your job you have to do it“ is basically the worst advice I have ever heard. Sales Team Meetings just dont take place because all of a sudden the Team lead is on holidays and doesnt tell anybody.
None

Yes internal = external

If you really deliver, you get promoted fast
Salary is market-aligned, extra benefits could still be a little improved...
yes, the software helps to save enormous amounts of resources, big chunk of customers are from the renewable energy sector
very nice, lots of external events, pizza nights, sport sessions, jam sessions, pure start-up vibes
fine, same expectations for everyone
great, super smart leadership team, demanding but very empathic, sometimes stressed-out because building a company is hard
great setup, only in summer the AC sometimes broke
direct, no-bullshit, sometimes a bit messy because of fast organizational growth
