ArbeitsatmosphäreAngestellte/r oder Arbeiter/in

In general nice atmosphere between colleagues except when under pressure. There's a sense or urgency all the time, when it's actually necessary. For example, we are told to complete it by end of this week so we work hard till late at night, but the senior reviewer takes forever to review it so we feel used for sacrificing time and effort.

The company is so large that it has the common big company problem or not knowing what other offices are doing. This shows up as lack of communication. The communication within the office seems to matter a lot, you need to put your name to the senior leaders in order to be promoted so the communication becomes more tactical and not authentic.

KollegenzusammenhaltAngestellte/r oder Arbeiter/in

The company is fragmented by countries, offices, division, group, etc. There also seems to be competition among offices in EU, US, and the rest to win the job and one needs to mark the territory in order to secure job. So the competition among consulting is huge which shows up as the internal competition among senior leaders. Within the team, it's alright. Some people were annoying, but in general once you get to know someone they are usually expected to behave well. At least there's a bunch of mandatory trainings to tell us how to be polite to each other

Work-Life-BalanceAngestellte/r oder Arbeiter/in

Consulting is not a place to seek for work-life-balance. But I don't know any job that has really achieved work-life-balance all the time. When on client projects, I worked normally 50 hours. In order to do extra job, which is a requirement for promotion, one needs to squeeze even more. That means spend all the time you have on work at Deloitte, write publications when you are not working on client projects (ideally), do other initiatives.

There are perks like meditation apps, gym tickets (which was always unavailable), 1st class train ticket, and free Half-tax on SBB, which was good.

Consulting is a place to propose and achieve an unrealistic goals, present yourself as professional whether you know the stuff or not, and you get awarded for it. Regarding conflict, there's a huge conflict at the top level. As they are all at same level as partners, there seems to be no rules how to resolve issues. Many resolve issues by leaving the company and get hired at a higher level/salary at another consulting company.

For young people who have never been exposed to fortune 500 companies, the projects seems cool. M&A, finance, strategy, etc. sounds all cool and a good training ground. But the daily work of a junior member maybe to pamper clients and make excel sheet and powerpoint look crisp. And hopefully you learn something in this short time.

One learns a lot about how to make pretty powerpoint much more than the content. If one really wants to become an expert in a subject, then leave consulting and go to industry.

There's a lot of request to write publication to make Deloitte known as experts. It's a bad practice that the junior staff write it but they are not even acknowledged for their time and effort. I find this unprofessional.
