All in all a quite typical IT job

Arbeitsatmosphäre

Very team and role dependant.

Kommunikation

Within the teams usually quite good. From management usually quite poor.

Facilitating effective cross-department communication is usually quite complicated unless you know the right person in the other team and they're willing to make time for you. The company seems to have grown too fast and cross-sectional teams are quite understaffed, while everyone else is perpetually busy with their own immediate workload as well.

Kollegenzusammenhalt

Within teams quite good, mostly due to 'common enemies' like management, QE, PMs, problematic work topics etc.

Work-Life-Balance

Work effort is habitually underestimated by management, unpaid overtime isn't uncommon, though it isn't exactly forced upon most people. People who try too hard to fulfill unrealistic expecations usually quit sooner rather than later.

Vorgesetztenverhalten

Varies. Decisions and reasonsing behind them are more often than not poorly communicated, if at all. Several of the diligent managers/seniors have quit or changed roles, as the work environment seems quite toxic for lower level managers as well.

Interessante Aufgaben

Very team dependant. Can be anything between implementing new features, designing new microservices, cloud based topics and cleaning up/maintaining legacy software.
Very limited influence on one's tasks/topics (usually none at all).

Gleichberechtigung

Very equity focused (i.e. privileges and preferential treatment for "protected groups") whereas individual concerns and circumstances are usually ignored.
The company is openly proud of and encourages this rather than trying to achieve equal treatment.

Umgang mit älteren Kollegen

No issues that I know of, but there are also not that many older collegues.

Arbeitsbedingungen

Mostly open space offices so quite noisy, especially since everybody is in zoom calls these days, but home office is usually possible most days. Some odd choices, like desks not being height adjustable and employees having to use their private mobile phones for 2FA.
Working hours are somewhat flexible and there's free snacks and drinks, though that's pretty standard these days.

Umwelt-/Sozialbewusstsein

5 days paid VTO per year and some donation matching, though only for some charities. Especially in Europe the selection is quite limited.

Gehalt/Sozialleistungen

Used to be quite good. Now with cost of living skyrocketing and the share price plummeting by over 80% since early 2021, it's still ok, but no longer a selling point.

Image

Virtually unknown in Germany. I don't think I have ever met anyone who even knows the company here.

Karriere/Weiterbildung

Some paid courses, trainings and certificates, but getting approval is very bureaucratic and at times chaotic.
Nominally there are hack days and such, but people often end up just working instead due to tight deadlines.
The criteria for advancement are quite vague - or at least how they are being applied is, but there are in house promotions.
