The tech department is the most unprofessional thing I’ve encountered in my entire career.
Arbeitsatmosphäre
The working atmosphere within the team is good, but as soon as a manager joins—for example, during the daily meetings—no one dares to speak up, and no one even wants to say anything. Even trivial questions like “What did you do over the weekend?” are met with silence, despite more than 10 people being present.
People who stand up for the team are systematically silenced and deliberately portrayed in a bad light.
Work-Life-Balance
The work-life balance is good—you can manage your own time and work later if needed.
However, you're basically left to handle your work on your own because the leadership lacks any real understanding of project management, leadership, or technical expertise. As a result, many tasks were duplicated, handled inefficiently, or the project was executed entirely incorrectly.
Other departments are extremely frustrated because their tickets are processed either incorrectly or very slowly, and they also notice the lack of competence. This is despite the fact that the individual team members are actually skilled in their respective areas.
Kollegenzusammenhalt
As already mentioned, the team itself is solid and works better without leadership than with it. The atmosphere is good, and people occasionally talk about personal matters and support each other during tough times. Notably, in such situations, no direcoter, no head of, no lead is ever present or shows any interest.
Outside our department, the lack of cohesion is also clearly noticed. However, the leadership only makes things worse and never brings about any real change—and when they do, it usually has the opposite effect.
Vorgesetztenverhalten
The supervisors lack both technical expertise and leadership skills. Some people saw through this and began to question things. These individuals were effectively labeled as enemies—it bordered on bullying. Even though they were always there to support their colleagues and even organized internal events, the director himself spoke poorly about them and spread lies. Ironically, these same individuals were the main contributors to the few successes the department had.
There is essentially a director, a head of, and a lead. They’ve aligned with each other and act almost in opposition to the team, seemingly to cover up their own shortcomings. Projects they are involved in often don’t work or perform very poorly—but this is tolerated and not considered a problem. However, if someone else makes a mistake, fingers are immediately pointed.
Arbeitsbedingungen
All of this made the work not enjoyable at all. It became a major burden, and even though the work delivered was of high quality. However, other freelancers are still employed—and will continue to be.
On my last day, no one from leadership took the time to say goodbye. You don’t have to like your managers, and it's okay to have your own opinion about them—but not being given a proper farewell on your final day was really tough. It clearly reflects both the lack of competence and the character of the leadership.
Kommunikation
Communication basically works like this: there is a "lead" who isn’t officially a lead, but acts like one—and that’s clearly intentional. However, when you ask questions, this person usually can’t answer because they lack the necessary competence and knowledge. They’ll often say, “I need to ask [Director's name],” and then you either never hear back or get contacted directly by the director—usually with criticism for asking such questions in a public setting.
In other departments, things seem to run much more smoothly
